Re:course changes
Today, we’d like to share some stuff on what happens when you push a pretty girl too far!
You get to learn a bit about how we shape your companions, their stories and the curse mechanic that influences your entire playthrough! Companions as a cornerstone of immersion. Steam post image
What we take enjoyment in is bringing you a set of diverse characters to care for and depend on. Every companion has her own story, abilities and nuances as well as emotions. And those emotions and fears can go too far.
Your romantic and sexual relationship is certainly important both as a gameplay feature and an integral part of the story. Your companions are a part of the story, not simply collectables. Individual quests.
Each companion will have an individual questline uncovering her past and motivations. And while these stories will not advance the plot the protagonist involved in, they will reveal more lore and improve your personal connections. The curse and the consequence The world of Re:course is full of dangers and is plagued by a curse. Your adversaries will do their best to keep spreading the curse to everyone around, including your companions. Affected companions can be cured by spells, temple visits and, of course, a relaxing wash-off at the onsen. After bath beers and mandatory nakedness included!
If left untreated, the curse will overtake a character, unraveling the deep trauma of the horrors they faced and stress they endured turning them, quite literally, inside out. In the worst possible way. Steam post image This will permanently turn the affected character into their twisted demonic form and will leave you no choice but to fight them. Not only are they incredibly strong, but even if you win, you will lose the companion forever. We are still working on the companions' personalities, their visuals and their demonic shapes and personalities and we will share more as we go! For now, check out some working sketches and outlines we’ve played with and let us know what you think!
