New players will get a pop-up to start the custom-made tutorial, which will cover everything in edit mode, from making a map to making cultures and nations, just the basics of how everything works and where to find certain buttons in edit mode.

TUTORIAL

This update, following player feedback, has been designed to give new players a starting place upon loading the game. New players will get a pop-up to start the custom-made tutorial, which will cover everything in edit mode, from making a map to making cultures and nations, just the basics of how everything works and where to find certain buttons in edit mode.

This new tutorial does not cover play mode once the player has made their own custom map and nation. This is something that will be worked on later in development once play mode is more refined, but this tutorial covers everything else leading up to that and provides players with everything they need to make their own custom maps, nations and cultures in their own worlds.

UI CHANGES

  • Changed the header in the load menu to say choose map rather than just map

  • Changed the Play button to start the world so it's clearer

  • Added a button to the settings to redo the tutorial if the player has finished it and no longer gets the pop-up

  • Changed how the selection buttons look so they no longer blend into the UI on the load world panel

  • Added text that appears when trying to do something you lack the required prerequisite for like making a culture without a valid nation

KNOWN ISSUES

  • A character aged 0-3 can temporarily load the wrong character model

  • Regime logic does not work, and elections in electoral regimes can fail to activate

  • Army AI can be inconsistent when on defence and can start to do a counterattack even while they are supposed to be defending.

  • When clicking something that needs a prerequisite, the tutorial task text can bug out.

  • The text that says saved when an item is saved isn't appearing; whether it's a culture or a nation is always saved correctly, but the text showing that fails to show.

WHATS NEXT

With this update focused heavily on onboarding and UI clarity, the next main step will likely be pushing further into character systems, adding more ambitions, and continuing to improve play mode so the world feels stronger once players move beyond creating it and into actually running it. A lot of this is already something I have been working on in the background, but this update ended up being important to get done first because player understanding and first impressions matter just as much as adding new systems.

Alongside that, I will still be watching for bugs, UI issues, and anything else this update brings up, and I will keep releasing smaller patches where needed in between the larger updates. As always, if you leave feedback below, I will be reading it and doing my best to respond.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND FEEDBACK
