addedAs you can see, progress is slow and continuous. New and improved models, textures, animations and a major update to the multiplayer networking, are being made. Today I'd like to share with you a glimpse into the development of what's to come.
changedThe models and textures for this game are a small contribution from talented artists all over the 3d community. I've been able to work with a few now who have made the quality of life inside Protocol even better. From the environment, to what you see here, the weapons, attachments, and characters are improving all the time.
changedI showed the artists, real life pictures from my time in Afghanistan during the Global War on Terrorism, and they are bringing to life a map that brings out places I've been, buildings I've cleared and ultimately a realistic experience that provides the unique aspect of Protocol.
changedWeapon Handling How you control your weapons inside Protocol was the next big challenge. Using refined animations and C# code, the handling and feeling of how you move are bringing to life a much more meaningful game-play. Here is just a small example of how the rifle moves. Additionally the rifle platform is modular. You pick the caliber you want to use, which handguards/ barrel lengths, attachments and run with it. Right now there are slight stat adjustments to each, but future builds this will be more robust.
changedAudio Occlusion Inside Protocol, we use Steam Audio, which is a way to bring to life audio occlusion. Essentially this just provides a better way to handle 3D sound, the environment affects the sound in a realistic approach. The helicopter from the video has audio occlusion on. When the enemies or your friends fire, you can really pinpoint their location by the audio.
changedHow the Game Flows The game flows by entering the match with your three person team, fully loaded with what gear you need. As you enter the game, your Helicopter will provide area security as you advance to capture or kill the High Valued Target (HVT). As your progress, a few things could happen in the match. Your overhead security element, maybe shot down, your HVT is eliminated by another team, or a Change of Mission is forced and you need to secure an HLZ for friendly forces to arrive. Things inside the game happen for all teams and there is a state machine that handles it allowing each match to be dynamically changed. Once your team completes its main mission, your extraction will be provided to you and your team will head out.

The Future Still an endless list it seems like, I am making slow progress, however the playable area of the map, main mission and basic quality of life elements needed to play Alpha are almost ready.

Thank You!

Thank you for being patient and I appreciate all the love and support I've been getting about this game. I really want to create a game that's fun to play, has some real meaning behind what is going on, and something where you could kill a few hours with some friends.
