Metagame: the commandments screen!

We’ve been finishing up the meta progression screen ahead of the public Steam demo. It’s one of the last big systems we wanted in place before release.

changedWorlds – self-contained content sets with their own cards, quests, temples, minor relics, and events
addedEach of these layers can combine with the others. Unlocking a new world does not just add content. It interacts with different relics, different goals, and different difficulty settings. The more you unlock, the more unusual the combinations become.
addedWe’re aiming for replayability through variation rather than escalation. New unlocks should change how you think about a run, not just make numbers go up.
changedRight now we’re polishing the UI, cleaning up transitions, and tuning the early unlock order so the progression feels natural. The demo will include this system in a limited form so you can start experimenting with it immediately!

We’ve been finishing up the meta progression screen ahead of the public Steam demo. It’s one of the last big systems we wanted in place before release.

The idea behind the meta layer in Prophet Margin is simple: instead of just unlocking more cards, you gradually unlock entire categories of play:

Over time, you gain access to:

  • Win Conditions – different objectives that define what a successful run looks like

  • Lose Conditions – additional failure states that change how cautiously you need to play

  • Worlds – self-contained content sets with their own cards, quests, temples, minor relics, and events

  • Holy Relics – defining starting relics that shape your strategy from turn one

  • Difficulties – modifiers that affect both win and lose conditions

Each of these layers can combine with the others. Unlocking a new world does not just add content. It interacts with different relics, different goals, and different difficulty settings. The more you unlock, the more unusual the combinations become.

We’re aiming for replayability through variation rather than escalation. New unlocks should change how you think about a run, not just make numbers go up.

Right now we’re polishing the UI, cleaning up transitions, and tuning the early unlock order so the progression feels natural. The demo will include this system in a limited form so you can start experimenting with it immediately!
