We're just days away from Steam Next Fest, and we've been busy to make sure that Lost Chapters demo is as polished and punchy as it can be. We'd also like to take a moment to thank you for all the feedback we've received on the demo, especially because your feedback is already helping us change and shape the full game ahead.

Changes

See the primary changes made in version 1.0.0.6:

  • Enemy Health Bars and the Crosshair are now ON by default.

  • The Execute spell has been changed from a single-target one-shot to a powerful close-range area-of-effect ability, making it far more effective against grouped monsters.

  • Cannon Retired (for now!) - The Cannon has been temporarily retired to the workshop for the time being! We felt it overlapped too much with the Harpoon Launcher, so it's back on the workbench for some tinkering.

  • Changed the Swamp Thing's movement patter from erratic steps to jumping.

  • Added a "Loading, please wait" message to the epilepsy warning screen.

Enemy Adjustments

We've tuned the difficulty and updated some of the monsters you'll face:

  • Shark Captain Reworked

    • Movement Speed Increased.

    • Stage 2 Health Increased from 20 HP to 30 HP.

  • Blunderbuss damage has been significantly increased.

  • Slightly reduced Harpoon Launcher's rate of fire

  • All black powder smoke effects are gone for better visibility during combat.

  • Weapons should now spawn closer to the entrance of a room, rather than right in the middle, giving you easier access to new toys.

  • We've replaced the Pirates in the first two rooms with different, more appropriate low-level enemies.

Audio

We've focused on making every shot sound and feel impactful:

  • Weapon Audio Mix Improved - A general cleanup to make weapon audio sound better overall.

  • Increased bass on all weapons to give them a heavier, more satisfying kick.

  • Updated the sound samples for the Musket and the devastating Blunderbuss.

  • The Cindris and Mortalis spells now have their own unique sound effects.

Visuals

Improvements to overall visual clarity:

  • New Impact Decals - Shots from the Blunderbuss and Harpoon Launcher now leave appropriate decals on surfaces.

  • Decal Clean-up - Fixed some visual flickering (Z-Fighting) that occasionally appeared on sword-hit decals on walls.

That's it for this pre-Next Fest update! Grab the latest demo, try out the changes, and don't forget to Wishlist Project Warlock: Lost Chapters!
