addedWe've been busy working on a lot of things so we wanted to update you all on our progress. The new and updated stuff is not live yet but we are planning to release them right before the Next Fest at the end of this February.
changedIce CaveWe've overhauled the Ice Cave. Some parts of the old generation did not work or didn't communicate their gameplay well. Since the biome in itself hadn't been iterated on much before, you can expect major changes in the next update:
addedIce CaveApart from the normal ice we introduced snow as a material. It is not slippery and gives you some time to breathe :D.
addedIce CaveWe completely reworked the landscape generation to lessen the "big sphere cutouts" areas. The new generation has more interesting corners to explore and still features big drops that you need to be careful about.
addedIce CaveFor decoration and theme we added underwater assets and spread them around. We hope you'll enjoy the aquatic vibes.
addedIce CaveThanks to player feedback (thank you so much <3) we've realised, that the digging mines in the ice cave feel unfair. With the new update they'll generate big vertical drops less frequently, and sometimes dig horizontal tunnels that you can ice-skate through. They also give you a 2s warning beep before they go off. Time to scram or embrace the mayhem!

We completely reworked the landscape generation to lessen the "big sphere cutouts" areas. The new generation has more interesting corners to explore and still features big drops that you need to be careful about.

For decoration and theme we added underwater assets and spread them around. We hope you'll enjoy the aquatic vibes.

Localization

We are getting the texts ready to send them out for translation. The plan is to include the following languages into the demo and full game by the end of February (for now):

English, German, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian

We will continue to look at wishlist numbers of regions to add more languages in the future. If you would like to help with translating the ~800 words in your native language you can join our Discord <3.

Cosmetics

A lot of cosmetics have been added (to the point that the character editor UI broke). Here is a sneak peek (yes, the propeller turns when you move).

Other Changes

  • The lava cave and end biome are also getting a rework (but more on that at a later date)

  • A lot of players did not use the catch feature so we encouraged it a bit more by showing a button prompt when you look at a player above you and also mark the catching player with an outline.

  • There have been quite a few performance improvements.

  • Removed items: flashlight, lantern and cluster grenade. Generally these were a test and the least polished items. We feel that items with light interactions can be cool but need more work to be useful. The cluster grenade was similarly underwhelming and did not add anything to the gameplay.

  • In the last update we also added support for a Speedrun Timer Livesplit. When connected via the options menu it will start and split the timer at the appropriatetimes. Let us know if you want to see more speedun related stuff or additional improvements to the Livesplit integration.

Next

We are preparing for the Next Fest at the end of February but we are working mainly on things for the full game and not just the demo. Currently we are also testing simple enemies and preparing everything visually for a new trailer.

Thank you all for the great feedback! Join our Discord if you like and tell us what else you'd like to see in the next update: https://discord.gg/cFMHztJXDJ
