Hi everyone!

I’m very excited to announce the new game I'm currently working on: Polyzonia. It's a new ecosystem simulation game set in the Amazon rainforest!

Polyzonia takes the ideas behind PolyPine into a much larger and more varied world. It will feature more species, deeper ecological relationships, larger ecosystems, a longer campaign, and around twice as much content as PolyPine.

Why isn’t it a DLC for PolyPine?

Polyzonia became too large to make sense as an expansion. Its planned scope is around twice that of PolyPine, and creating it required me to build an entirely new game engine under the hood.

This new engine is designed for more complex ecosystem simulations and gives me much more freedom to expand the number of species, environments, and interactions. Although Polyzonia builds on the ideas behind PolyPine, it is a full new game rather than an additional biome.

What’s new?

Polyzonia takes you across five distinct Amazon environments:

  • Towering terra firma forests

  • Seasonally flooded whitewater forests

  • Dark blackwater channels

  • Coastal mangroves

  • Andean cloud forests

Each environment introduces its own species, conditions, and ecological relationships. Fish gather beneath fruiting trees in flooded forests. Electric eels hunt in blackwater. Mangrove roots shelter young animals. Cloud-forest birds perform courtship dances.

The relationships between species will also be more intricate, creating richer food webs and mutual dependencies throughout the rainforest. There is also full lifecycle simulation of all species! Baby capybaras follow their mothers, sloth and monkey babies cling to their mother's back, and a lot more cute interactions.

I can’t wait to share more content in the upcoming months!

Cheers,

Anton
