changedHi Kittens!Right now this new feature is still in beta. However, it's perfectly playable though a lot of work has gone into this, having to vastly tweak the existing framework. I didn't think it was possible but I managed to get something fun going! Keep in mind that not everything has been updated yet. I need to bring back the gamepad and a few oddities are present such as the split screen showing up after you load a level and go back to the main menu. I will continue to push updates and get it all sorted. That said, Play with Gilbert lets parents, siblings or friends join each other towards a single goal: Collect everything together. Below I'll describe how things work for the majority:
changedHi Kittens! All the levels have been updated and tweaked so that two players can have fun in them.
addedHi Kittens! The screen is currently split horizontally but I also hope to be able to add in options soon to change this to whatever is preferred.
addedHi Kittens! For now the 2nd player will play as Gilbert. I will add in customization options for the second player as soon as possible but for now this will do. I also want to add in new options such as being able to set vertical split screen and a few other options. I pushed this new version out the door hoping I'd get some feedback from the community.
changedNew Maps Planned! Now that local multiplayer is an actual thing I want to do more with the game. I have been thinking about special Co-Op only maps and also versus maps. Co-op maps will consist of two players having to help each other to progress in a level and work together as a team where versus levels would pit two kitties against eachother, for instance, in a race to find all the fishies first. I'm open to suggestions of course so let me know what you guys would like to do.
addedA New UI!I also pretty much re-designed the UI and updated the HUD in the game. I had to do this because the old HUD was not set up for multiplayer action so I took the opportunity to simply re-design the HUD. I've added tons of new effects and animations when things happen and I am incredibly happy with the new look.

Local Split-Screen Co-op Action!

Hi Kittens!

When I started developing Play With Gilbert being able to play WITH my daughter was something I wanted to be able to do, really bad and I finally been able to get it to work and I've released it to the public.

Right now this new feature is still in beta.

  • kittens follow the player that meowed at them.

  • When you collect fishies they will count towards one collective total.

  • Using the kitty sense shows up on both screens.

  • All the levels have been updated and tweaked so that two players can have fun in them.

  • For now you will need two gamepads to play, but I plan to have options available to be able to change this

  • The screen is currently split horizontally but I also hope to be able to add in options soon to change this to whatever is preferred.

  • I will also try to enable keybinding for two players but I cannot promise to get this implemented due to how hard it is to get keybinding to work at all through blueprints.

The main goal is to have fun together, at least for now. :)

For now the 2nd player will play as Gilbert. I will add in customization options for the second player as soon as possible but for now this will do. I also want to add in new options such as being able to set vertical split screen and a few other options. I pushed this new version out the door hoping I'd get some feedback from the community.

New Maps Planned!

A New UI!

I also pretty much re-designed the UI and updated the HUD in the game. I had to do this because the old HUD was not set up for multiplayer action so I took the opportunity to simply re-design the HUD. I've added tons of new effects and animations when things happen and I am incredibly happy with the new look.

I think the new HUD layout and Icons, etc really simplifies everything and males the experience a whole lot more clearer and I hope you guys like it as well.

Price Increase Incoming!

For now Play with Gilbert will remain the same price until after the Steam summer sale is over. After that I will update the base price because I feel that with this new addition and even more new content coming in a suitable increase is something I think is fair for all the work I've put into the game since it's release. I wanted to give everyone who might be on the sidelines a chance to get the game before that happens!

Final Thoughts!

I will post more updates once I have more to talk about. Oh and more customization options are also planned! I hope this update was something you guys appreciate and I hope everyone is happy with the game so far. Take care for now! Joure
