GREETINGS GARDENERS!

Put on your wellies and grab your shovels; Planted’s first Public Playtest is heading to Steam!

That’s right! Following our little tease last week, we’re incredibly excited to be kicking off our very first playtest. This is our opportunity to get the game in front of players, test a couple of things, check a few theories – but most importantly get feedback directly from players to make sure development is heading in the right direction.

For this playtest we’ll be getting stuck right into the heart of our MULTIPLAYER experience. Just to let you know, Planted’s multiplayer runs via peer-to-peer connections, so make sure you’re only hosting with a stable connection! You’ll have two maps to tackle; The Allotment and The Stadium with a garden full of tools, power-ups, and vegetables to play with.

And best of all? Signups for the playtest begin today! So, what are you waiting for?

Head to our store page and join in the horticultural chaos.

The actual playtest begins May 25th to June 1st, 2026 – so a super limited window!

The Modes

In Planted! Each map is basically its own new mode. The core Sow, Grow and Throw loop stays the same, but new challenges emerge, keeping both the environment and the gameplay fresher than a cucumber.

First up, we’ll be heading down to The Allotment. You’ll learn everything there is to know about the core sowing, growing, and throwing your way to the top.

Pick up a spade, dig your plot, plant your crops, and don’t let anyone snatch your onions! You’ll need to grow them big and healthy before lobbing them into the back of a truck, ready for sale. If your opponents just so happen to get in the way… let’s just say health and safety won’t come knocking.

It’s a race against the clock, and your opponents will be looking to sell their own goods or sabotage yours. Remember; quality over quantity unless of course a special order comes in to sell the most of a certain vegetable.

Next up, The Stadium. Hopefully you didn’t make too many enemies in The Allotment as you’ll now be paired off in teams of two. This time, you won’t be hurling carrots into a truck, you’ll be trying to score in your opponent’s net!

The same basic cycle of sow, grow, throw still apply so put your Allotment training to the test with a score of fans cheering you on.

Multiplayer Madness

Both modes can be played with up to 4 players via peer-to-peer connections. If you can’t rustle up three more players, don’t threat, as Planted! features varying difficulties of bots that can replace players.

To invite friends, you can directly invite them through Steam or via a Room Code in the lobby screen.

Planted! also supports 4 player local play in true offline chaotic fashion.

Growing Pains

Please keep in mind this is our first iteration of our net code so we apologise in advance for any pesky bugs or desync that may occur as we apply the digital pesticide and fix things! Thank you for your patience with us and we trim the weeds off this exciting adventure.

We’ll be following the playtest with a Feedback Form to get your thoughts in during this early stage of development.
