Devlog #8 - Flood Cataclysm

Hello Space Settlers 🪐

We're happy to be back after a looong week of development and events and just dusting off after DevGAMM Gdansk, where Planetiles was nominated for Best Playable Upcoming Game. The Steam event is still up until March 5th if anyone wants to check some indie games highlights from Baltic Region.

New Cataclysm - The Flood

In this devlog we'd like to showcase another devastating cataclysm that occurs in Planetiles - The Flood. Cataclysms usually occur every 500 points and players need to learn their way of dealing with them.

Flood is a cataclysm that results in random tiles dissapearing underwater and emerging as Swamps. Swamps are the barren lands with no real use and don't count as tiles. Floods can be quite deadly when you're on a bigger planet that is largely populated with land.

There are couple general rules when it comes to Floods:

• Maximum 6 tiles will be submerged during Flood

• In most times, only the adjacent tiles are submerged

• Flood doesn't affect already built structures

• Flood doesn't affect Mountain tiles
