addedAhoy Mateys! A new journey awaits you with the release of Pirates Outlaws 2 Heritage, in early access on Steam. Many of our community are also waiting for the mobile version. Know that mobile development is one of our priorities and predicted to be released in January.
changedWith this open letter, I want to reassure PO community: I am confident about the future of this project (at least more than Spiritle), because of additional content planned that will enrich the gameplay experience and fit player expectations to generate similar enthusiasm as Pirates Outlaws 1.
addedTo explain more about the plan to develop Pirates Outlaws 2 for 2026 and incoming major updates, let's compared to its prequel Pirates Outlaws 1 and its early limited contents. Pirates Outlaws 1 was release with 6 characters, 3 chapters and around 300 cards. Without Arena, Tavern Brawl, Quests, Bounties... Pirates Outlaws 1 contains now 16 Heroes (29 if we consider “First Mate” hero 15 alternative classes), 7 chapters, 700+ Cards, 230+ relics, 3 game modes… and hard mode as new game+ for the challenge.
addedPirates Outlaws 2 Heritage will not be that different in term of contents, and even better, to implement new conditions and additional features with the new system. Like its prequel, player will be still able to play Cursed classes, experience cards Fusion with the implementation of Alchemist class, and exploring varied environment and regions...
addedHowever, several features and classes are direct reference from PO1, new mechanics and implementations will support the creation of characters with exotic abilities.

ABOUT CONTENTS

To explain more about the plan to develop Pirates Outlaws 2 for 2026 and incoming major updates, let's compared to its prequel Pirates Outlaws 1 and its early limited contents.

Pirates Outlaws 2 Heritage will not be that different in term of contents, and even better, to implement new conditions and additional features with the new system. Like its prequel, player will be still able to play Cursed classes, experience cards Fusion with the implementation of Alchemist class, and exploring varied environment and regions...

In fact, most the previous contents, hero abilities and game mechanics from PO1 will be mostly implemented or adapted to the game.

However, several features and classes are direct reference from PO1, new mechanics and implementations will support the creation of characters with exotic abilities.

Spoiler alert:

  • Gabi and Hector cursed classes allow to play with cursed cards

  • Yasmina Specter and Fortune Teller classes

  • Sigurd Pet Tamer class: each selected companion changes his starter deck

  • New market “ Shaman Hut ” with dedicated actions: remove card or permanent curses, cure cursed max HP or fuse cards

  • Attachment of points to Tailor shop equipment that trigger dedicated clan event choices or actions (Implementation of Pirate & Outlaw Outfits)

  • Advanced features: Fusion and Extraction functions, copy an adjacent non-unique relic, unknown conditions and passives…

ABOUT PLAYER EXPERIENCE

A new era and a new story. The game is designed to welcome novices and new players; “Reputed Captains” and experienced players that expect a similar challenge they experienced now with PO1 will have to wait before finding a difficulty level to their liking. The difficulty will progressively be adjusted with each update, along with the addition of new regions in Navigate mode or the Arena level of difficulties.

MOBILE VERSION

The mobile version is postponed to January due to an unforeseen situation event. During game development, it is common that unfortunate events, leaves or several decisions could cause damage to the production and affecting release schedule.

STEAM & PC EA VERSION

Although Steam/Epic is not the ideal platform for us, as our game is more optimized for mobile devices, and given the numerous competitive roguelike/roguelite deckbuilder games already available and entirely dedicated to this platform, we preferred to release as Early Access to use negative and positive feedback for our next versions and release.

Using Early Access for Steam and PC version is an opportunity to improve and implement progressively all essential contents for an optimal experience, until v1.0. Mobile players and community handle and accept more with monthly and recurrent updates. And all PC DLC extensions will obviously be added without additional payment.

STUDIO

As a small indie studio, we operate within development and production limitations. It is essential to know what we can and cannot achieve. Although the game seems to focus on innovation, with its new combat system and mechanics, rather than simply improving graphics and gameplay, the project is a rational continuation of the project and capacity of self-produce for our studio.

The 2026 Roadmap and schedule previously share are planned for all platforms: additional heroes, classes, companions, regions, features and mechanics are for both versions PC and Mobile…

Also, an information that in my opinion good to share now, to give credit to the project I’ve created and to the studio. I, Nicolas, original game designer and art director of the game Pirates Outlaws, built a new team around this sequel that must be guide and directed. It’s a huge project with years of work in it and I am hopeful the active community will support with their feedback and backups, the studio and its new members to take the right decision.

It will be again a colossal challenge for our Studio to keep on it, but we will effortlessly be working on improving player experience and game contents, as we have done before.

And, to all those who have expressed their gratitude and love ♥♥♥♥♥ by supporting the project or the studio, I wish to return the favor with the same sincerity.

Best Regards,

Nicolas
