addedApologies, this is going to get pinbally real fast. But fear not, I'm trying to make the game super approachable and fun for players new to pinball whilst still providing a challenge for more experienced players.
changedIt's a roguelite, so you'll be working your way through the dungeon map and picking which "rooms" are going to be most advantageous on your journey. There are...

Secondly, if you've not already, join the discord to hear about work in progress, development details, and news like when the demo will be available. You can also give suggestions and feedback and chat with the devs 👍

I wanted to start sharing some more in depth info about the game, and a post about how the game plays and how the roguelite elements come in to play seems perfect!

Apologies, this is going to get pinbally real fast. But fear not, I'm trying to make the game super approachable and fun for players new to pinball whilst still providing a challenge for more experienced players.

You play as Morgan the Witch/Wizard (take your pick) and her friendly slime pal Smush. The Evil Sorceress has captured all the villagers and turned them in to vile monsters. It is up to you to defeat the monsters, rescue the villagers and send The Evil Sorceress packing!

It's a roguelite, so you'll be working your way through the dungeon map and picking which "rooms" are going to be most advantageous on your journey. There are...

  • Basic enemy rooms, defeating the enemy rescues a villager.

  • Loot rooms, bash down the door to the keep to grab rare rewards.

  • Camp rooms, regain some health.

  • Elite enemy rooms, tougher foes with greater rewards.

  • Challenge rooms, fun pinball challenges that will reward you with rare treats.

  • Shops, spend your hard earned cash on cool upgrades.

Enemy rooms are the bread and butter of Pin-Crawl. You defeat the monsters by bopping and bashing them with Smush. It won't be so easy though, each enemy will also be trying to stop Morgan and Smush with all sorts of devious tactics.

  • Make sure you dispel Mushypuff's noxious spore clouds before they reach the flippers and poison Morgan!

  • Watch out for Bomblin's Bomb Balls! Perhaps you'll be able to use them against him?

  • Careful! Thornet is shooting thorns everywhere, making it difficult for Smush to get about!

  • And tons more...

As you've probably seen in the trailer, Smush is able to Dash and Morgan can cast Magic Shot. Dash is super handy for getting out of a tricky jam or performing precision sniper shot on enemies, and magic shot is great for when enemies get a little rough and start trying to manhandle Smush!

After saving a villager, they'll reward you with either a new Spell or a new Rune Stone.

Spells!? You have six Spell slots, each one associated with a different element of the table. ramps, pop bumpers, roll over lanes, sinkholes, slingshots and enemies. As you hit each element it will build up mana and when it's full the spell is cast! Some spells have an immediate effect, like launching an extra ball; others are timer based and only last for a short period, like double damage; and others might be active until used, like a ball save.

As for Rune Stones, they are more passive upgrades and can affect your stats like health and attack, as well as affecting your Spells, increasing the duration of time based spells, or giving Smush more dashes.

Choosing which kind of upgrades and what kind of build you want will determine how far you'll make it through the dungeon! Combos of Spells and Rune Stones can lead to some super fun and OP builds. How about every time you charge your Ramps Spell an extra ball is launched? What if you had a Rune Stone that set all extra balls on fire? Another Rune that makes all enemies weak to Fire! Another Rune that builds mana for all Spells every time an enemy is damaged... which then makes your Ramps Spell build quicker and launch more fiery extra balls that do tons more damage that builds your mana?! So many possibilities!

I'm super excited to see what crazy and unexpected builds people are going to make!

There's tons more to Pin-Crawl, I've not touched on Trinkets, secret table modes or that suspicious looking frog who's hanging out in the pond, but I'll have to save those for another post!

I'll have more to share about the demo and upcoming events in the future. If you could give the game a wishlist and help spread the word it would be hugely appreciated!
