Pencil Stories changes
It’s time for a major content update for Pencil Stories! Over the last few weeks, Letty hasn’t just been delivering letters; she’s been taking a much closer look at the flora and fauna of Tsukinoma. We’ve been tinkering away under the hood and added many new details to make the world feel even more alive.
Here is everything that’s new:
New Interactive Nature
Bouncy Mushrooms: Something to watch out for... or just a way to have some fun? You decide!
Shy Grass: Watch where you’re gliding - some patches of grass in Tsukinoma are a bit camera-shy and will react to your presence.
Wind Chimes: You can now find handcrafted wind chimes throughout the village. Give them a little nudge and enjoy the soothing sounds of the night.
Reach Your Destination Faster
- Signposts & Quick TravelWe’ve added signposts (though some are still under construction). These serve as a quick travel system! Use them to zip between locations in a flash. But be careful: Letty gets lost sometimes!
Overhauled Reveal Mechanic
We have completely rewritten the heart of the game - the reveal mechanic. It is now more stable, significantly more performant, and feels even more cohesive as you "paint" the world into the light.
New Chapter Art
Each of the 6 chapters is now introduced by a beautiful, brand-new hand-drawn illustration that perfectly captures the mood of the upcoming story.
Story Polish & Writing
Localization has been refined, and we’ve added many new dialogues and variations to give Letty’s personality even more room to shine.
Bugfixes
We’ve done some serious spring cleaning in the background to ensure your journey through the night is as smooth as possible.
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! Tsukinoma is growing and thriving because of you.
See you soon and stay smooth, Thomas & the Phantom Island Team
