We wanted to let you know about upcoming updates during the summer months which will include the previously mentioned new map.

However, before releasing the map, we wanted to take care of the main complaints of our playerbase: entity AI and Voice Chat; so we're taking our time to improve both.

Our plan is to do this in two update phases:

  1. Mid to End of JulyPatch in the improved voice chat and entity AI
  2. Mid of August: Update to major version 1.4 including the upcoming map

This being said you can expect the following additions and changes in the beta version for public testing very soon.

We're especially excited to hear your thoughts on the new voice chat acoustics, because we are mind-blown of how good it turned out!

(Note to self: learn how to keep things short)

Additions:

  • Added realistic voice acoustics: teammates now sound muffled through walls, carry around corners and pick up reverb in large rooms

  • Added a walkie talkie item that transmits all voices around it to other walkie talkies in the same channel when turned on

Changes:

  • Overhauled the entity AI for smarter, fairer hunting, searching and reactions across the board

  • Improved entity memory and searching: entities track your last known position and sweep the area you fled to, including nearby hiding spots, instead of giving up early

  • Improved how entities react to sound (footsteps, slammed doors, dropped items, breaking glass and nearby voice chat)

  • Improved entity target selection so they commit to the most exposed player instead of whoever was noticed first

  • Improved difficulty scaling so each difficulty now has a much stronger effect on entity sight, hearing, persistence, search and movement speed

  • Rebalanced entity awareness so you can break line of sight and lose them again with enough distance or cover

  • Replaced the proximity voice chat with a new in-house voice system for clearer, lower-latency communication

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed a bug where entities would be confused when you stand on a table or anything else that elevates you
