Overclocked Arena: Instability Protocol changes
Two New Characters Enter the Arena
One of the core goals of Overclocked Arena is to make every run feel a little different.
Weapons, upgrades, and evolutions already add variety — but now characters themselves can change how your strategy unfolds.
The latest update introduces two new playable characters and a new system: Character Traits.
Meet Ember and Operator.
Ember — Master of Fire
Ember specializes in one of the most destructive elements in the game: fire.
After unlocking the Fire Trail weapon, Ember gains a unique trait that allows her to ignite enemies from the very start of a run.
Normally, this ability only appears later through upgrades or evolutions — but Ember brings the heat immediately.
This creates a much more aggressive early game:
Enemies ignite instantly • Fire spreads through dense enemy swarms • Damage-over-time builds become extremely powerful
If you enjoy watching enemies slowly melt in flames, Ember is built for you.
Operator — Tactical Control
Operator focuses on battlefield control rather than raw damage.
His unique trait enhances one of the game's most autonomous weapons: Drones.
With Operator, drones will prioritize elite enemies whenever possible.
Instead of attacking random nearby targets, drones now hunt down the most dangerous threats first.
This can dramatically change how chaotic fights play out, especially when elite enemies start pressuring your position.
Operator is ideal for players who enjoy more tactical control over the arena.
Introducing Character Traits
This update also introduces a new system: Character Traits.
Traits are passive abilities tied to specific characters that subtly modify how certain mechanics behave during a run.
Rather than locking characters into completely different weapon sets, traits allow characters to change how builds evolve over time.
Some traits improve early-game power, while others influence targeting behavior or weapon interactions.
The goal is simple:
Choosing a character should meaningfully change how a run plays.
Making Every Run Feel Different
As development continues, I'm putting more focus on variety and replayability.
Characters like Ember and Operator are the first step toward making every run feel unique depending on who you bring into the arena.
Some characters will favor aggressive builds. Others will reward strategy and positioning.
And this is only the beginning.
More characters — and more traits — are already in development.
