removedWe now have invasives in the game! After you finish Barbara's Tier 1 friendship quests, you will get a quest from her to buy the Invasives Kit. From that point onwards you'll be able to remove them. It's basically like the trash-removal system, which we know you like. We'll still need to play around with the numbers, to find the right amount of invasives.
addedPlant respawn cycle + Overharvesting penaltiesNow, we have introduced plant/patch saving and a respawn cycle. When you harvest a plant and move to the next timeslot, that plant will become unavailable for harvesting again until the next market. Instead of going to the same old patches, you now get encouraged to try new ones.
addedPlant respawn cycle + Overharvesting penaltiesBoth of these new features are meant to mirror sustainable harvesting behaviours. This way, we gently remind you that nature is not an "all you can eat buffet" - we should always be mindful when harvesting and take only what we need.
changedGathering ListA feature that allows you to pin recipes and save their ingredients to a list that you can view in the HUD. That way you can choose the recipes you want to cook and then see all the ingredients needed to make them on the list. Many of you asked for this feature :)
addedWe'll be going dark for the 1.0 prep! After these next few patches, we won't be pushing new features anymore - and that's because we're working on the BIG features that will be part of the 1.0 release! These include:

Hi everyone!

In the spirit of Earth Day we have another update for you!

We now have invasives in the game!

As you know, invasive species are endangering biodiversity - so of course we should include the concept and teach about it. As this game is played in all regions of the world we couldn't use real plants for this one (since one invasive might be another's native). But visually we made it look like Japanese Knotweed, cause that's invasive in the US and in Europe :)

Action required: go to the B&B and end your day. ONLY then will you see invasives in patches! (all game saves created after this patch will see them by default)

Plant respawn cycle + Overharvesting penalties

Before this patch, plants and patches respawned after each timeslot, meaning you had an endless supply of plants without negative consequences for overharvesting.

Now, we have introduced plant/patch saving and a respawn cycle. When you harvest a plant and move to the next timeslot, that plant will become unavailable for harvesting again until the next market. Instead of going to the same old patches, you now get encouraged to try new ones.

If you overharvest a plant (take more than 60% of it), you now also get a penalty. The penalty consists of 10-25 curiosity points per plant part that you overharvest.

Both of these new features are meant to mirror sustainable harvesting behaviours. This way, we gently remind you that nature is not an "all you can eat buffet" - we should always be mindful when harvesting and take only what we need.

Since this feature significantly changes harvesting behaviour we'll be looking for your feedback to learn what we can improve!

What we're working on next!

Gathering List

A feature that allows you to pin recipes and save their ingredients to a list that you can view in the HUD. That way you can choose the recipes you want to cook and then see all the ingredients needed to make them on the list. Many of you asked for this feature :)

We will drop it in a patch later this week!

We'll be going dark for the 1.0 prep!

After these next few patches, we won't be pushing new features anymore - and that's because we're working on the BIG features that will be part of the 1.0 release! These include:

  • an immersive cooking experience with different stations (herbalism, cooking, baking, chopping) with beautiful 3D scenes, chronological cooking (so you learn the steps) and great sound effects!

  • a companion planting gardening feature where you can learn which plants pair well together plus lots of cute decorations.

  • a crafting system so you can make those decorations!

  • a collectible system, where you can find scrap and materials for crafting in patches around the world.

  • a new autumn chapter.

  • a new mountain area!

Going dark doesn't mean we won't post updates anymore - we just won't release patches anymore (that's because the new features might introduce bugs and we want the 1.0 launch to have a lot of new features for you to have fun with!). We will still keep you posted and share videos and images of the game development here on Steam!

Have a great week!
