ONE FENIX DOWN changes
Welcome to our year-end update for 2025! This time around we'll cover a major milestone in the game's development, a teaser of a beautiful new area, and Steam Next Fest news. Let's jump right in!
Major Milestone
I'm thrilled to announce that One Fenix Down's main story is now 100% complete! Whaaaattt!!!
After working on this game since 2016 it's still hard to wrap my head around it. Last month I completed the Final Boss encounter and have been doing my first ever beginning-to-end playthrough. Admittedly a bit biased, but I truly believe fans of indie JRPGs and retro-styled ones are going to enjoy this game.
My QA team have also started on alpha testing and bug hunting. Meanwhile my next steps are polishing the game and getting it ready for the beta testing in February or March. This includes implementing all the fine art from our artists and adding optional content to ensure a full experience on Day 1. My goal is to release a game in a similar manner as the classics: no DLC/expansions, but a full experience from the start. Also (hopefully) no major bugs!
Overall I'm quite satisfied with progress since the last status update, and pending any major surprises (like from unsuspecting Mimics), I'm confident we're still on track for a 2026 Spring/Summer release.
Teaser Clips
I admittedly created this mini-teaser of a new game area for an X post which received a whooping... 20 views (thanks Elon). So I figured why not share it here?
The teaser not only shows off one of my favorite new areas, but also is a snippet of our composer's latest soundtrack (and an absolute banger I might add).
Steam Next Fest - Feb 2026
Lastly I wanted to share that One Fenix Down will be participating in Steam Fest next February!
This will be an excellent opportunity to showcase our demo which, I believe, does a great job encompassing the game's many features in a short ~30 mins. session. Those features include a character-driven story with emotional impact, gripping 16-bit music, party-swapping mechanics, turn-based combat, and unique skillsets for party members who come and go.
If you've already played the demo, the updated version will be mostly the same except it will be showcasing the new menu that we've been working on. Here are a few snapshots of it!

That’s all for now. Thanks for your ongoing support! -RC
