OMSI 2 – Berlin Line 186 – WIP Images from Steglitzer Kreisel

The work on the assets required for the upcoming OMSI Berlin Line 186 add-on is nearing completion, while the beta testing is already in full swing.

A particular highlight of the new Berlin map is the Steglitzer Kreisel, with its unique structural and traffic-related features. Today, we’re sharing the first images from ongoing development, showcasing the exterior of this iconic structure.

The high-rise on Schloßstraße in the Berlin district of Steglitz has shaped the cityscape since the late 1960s. At around 120 meters tall, it is one of the most recognizable buildings in southwestern Berlin and will be an unmistakable feature in the add-on.

Recreating it presented the development team with significant challenges.

In addition to the characteristic high-rise structure with its entrances, podium, and retail spaces, the traffic-specific peculiarity had to be faithfully reproduced: selected bus lines drive directly into the building, loop around in a closed circuit, and start their next route from there.

Such a concept is rare worldwide and can only be found in a few major cities, such as Taipei, Toronto, or Cincinnati. This uniqueness makes the Steglitzer Kreisel a special experience for OMSI players.

The real-world condition of the building has also been considered. Since 2015, the tower has been undergoing extensive renovation, with scaffolding and construction tarps shaping its appearance. This authentic detail is deliberately reflected in the add-on, ensuring high recognition for those familiar with the area.

The lower building complex houses numerous shops and a hotel, all recreated with attention to detail, adding extra atmosphere to the area.

The images shown are from the ongoing development (Work in Progress). Details may still change before release.

In one of the upcoming news updates, we will also give you a look inside the building, which is currently under intensive development.

We are excited to hear your feedback on this unique building of Line 186.

It won’t be long until you can drive through the Steglitzer Kreisel yourself, though we cannot announce an exact release date yet.
