Okashi Towers changes
I am excited to announce that I will be making Okashi Towers free to download and keep on steam!
Over the development of Okashi Towers I have learned a lot acting as a developer and publisher for the game. Ultimately the short answer for "Why free-to-play?" is that I don't want to keep Okashi Towers behind a paywall for anyone who wants to start a match and play with their friends.
This announcement is to act as a warning in advance to allow anyone interested in the game to avoid paying for Okashi Towers (If you accidentally pay for it from now until it transfers to free-to-play I encourage you to issue a refund through steam support).
Why are you doing this?
As an indie developer it is very hard to build a player base for a multiplayer game, let alone for a game that is not free-to-play. The barrier to entry is currently too high. I am also focusing more on other projects as of now but I would still much rather make Okashi Towers a free game and allow anyone who wants to play the game with their friends do so rather than sell a few copies here and there while the game sits as a dead game.
What changes can I expect to see one Okashi Towers is free-to-play?
Not much! Okashi Towers is a peer-to-peer game that relies on steam servers to operate so it does not require active maintenance. Anybody is welcome to build worlds using the World Builder system to make unique experiences for the game.
Will there be ads or other interruptions in the free-to-play version?
No, it will be the exact same game!
