Of Guards And Thieves changes
Hi everyone, here's a quick update on the current development state. As you have certainly noticed we have not released updates in a long time, the main reason is that along with the development of a whole series of new content, we are stuck a bit on rewriting and optimizing of a good part of the netcode and other very old code that we brought with us since the first version of the game. This work will finally allow us to solve and detect a whole series of very old bugs, including all the wrong class problems, respawn bugs, netcode performance and other annoying things. Also, we've upgraded our graphic engine, this change allows us to improve several things, including:
Considerable performance boost both on CPU, GPU and RAM usage
Directx 11 support
Improved lighting, graphic appearance, particles effects and more
Improve post-processing effects (New Antialiasing / Ambient Occlusion / Bloom and other effects)
Customizable LUT Color Grading effects
Improved and faster physics
Unfortunately, this type of changes are prevents us from releasing intermediate updates, forcing us to complete the whole rewriting of the code and engine porting before being able to release a new public stable update. The good news is that we are officially in testing phase and fix, we're currently working with our Beta Tester group and we hope to achieve a stable major release in weeks. Another good news, the next will probably be the most substantial updates ever released, not only regarding the technical bits but also new gameplay content. Some of the most important additions are surely the introduction of an experimental sbTDM update, hostable by clients, a richer training mode, the addition of the in-game inventory for these modes, in-game day & night cycle, background environmental sounds, the addition of vehicles (initially on Racing, sbTDM, Training ) which will soon be made available also for all other modes. Also 2 new classes, with new gadgets and weapons are almost ready together with a rich content updates for the map editor, which will be enriched with more than 1400 new items based on Racing and Tropical Jungle theme, plus Tropical themed skins dlc, new maps, important bug fix and important new bugs of course (:p) and more. All of the above is going to give players, and map creators, in particular, more freedom and creative possibilities with a whole range of new gameplay possibilities.
