OddFauna : Secret of the Terrabeast changes
Your developer Cliff here.
We’re writing today to give you the scoop on the upcoming launch of the Alpha version of OddFauna: Secret of the Terrabeast! I’m hoping this update will answer your questions about Alpha. Our most recent schedule is projecting a mid-November launch.
We’re adding some channels on the OddFauna Discord in order to answer questions about Alpha and have Alpha Beasts provide feedback and discuss the game. These channels will be available exclusively to those who have already signed up for Alpha.
We’re asking Alpha participants to not share or stream anything from Alpha. But rest assured, we’ll do our best to keep everyone up-to-date on the progress of Alpha. Let’s dive in!
What is the project status?
Development has gone really well since the Kickstarter. I’ve been able to get a ton of work done. I know social posts and updates have been minimal, but it’s allowed me to focus primarily on creating the game. We’re now approaching the time where I need people to start play testing and providing feedback! That is where Alpha comes in!
What is Alpha?
Alpha is the term that game developers use to describe the early version of their game. The Alpha version is playable, it’s larger than a prototype, but it’s far from complete. Alpha varies hugely from game to game and from studio to studio. A lot of studios (particularly AAA studios) use the term Alpha for when a game is basically finished. That is not what we are doing! 🙂
We are starting the Alpha testing VERY early in the development process. We are super fortunate to have the Alpha Beasts who are eager to play the game. I want to involve you all in the process and get your feedback as early as possible. Your feedback will help me find bugs, make game design decisions, and ultimately deliver the best possible version of the final game.
As a reminder Alpha, Beta and Early Access are only playable on Steam (PC).
When is Alpha Testing launching?
The goal is to get Alpha in your hands by the middle of November. If everything goes as planned, I think we can achieve that goal. As we approach this Alpha milestone, I will be updating on Kickstarter, Steam, and Discord. Please stay tuned and wish us luck! We've already begun rolling out Alpha Beast roles on Discord and will make the exclusive Alpha area available once those are out.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for being part of this process! 💚
Yours, Cliff
