Hey guys, It’s been nearly 2 months since the last update on Nyx Legacy. Last time, I showed a bunch of reworked dungeons — this time, I’ve got much bigger news. First of all: Nyx is absolutely still being worked on.

changedThat means rethinking how I build systems — making them more intuitive, more important, and more natural to use. Also improving how tutorials and explanations are handled. I’m also excited to tell you that Anna will be helping design the world and maps.
addedThis will naturally add more variation to how things look and feel, but she’s incredibly good at bringing environments to life. This change will speed up development a lot, because it allows me to focus on what I enjoy most: debugging, balancing, redesigning systems, adding puzzles, and expanding the story — without constantly switching back to world-building. I’ve also created a roadmap for myself.

First of all: Nyx is absolutely still being worked on. I just haven’t been talking about it much lately.

Not because the passion is gone — quite the opposite. The more I talk about it, the more excited I get… and that excitement makes me rush things. I want to show you what the game really is, but the demo already taught me a lot. Even though it was received well, I found many things I want to do differently.

That means rethinking how I build systems — making them more intuitive, more important, and more natural to use. Also improving how tutorials and explanations are handled. I’m also excited to tell you that Anna will be helping design the world and maps.

This will naturally add more variation to how things look and feel, but she’s incredibly good at bringing environments to life. This change will speed up development a lot, because it allows me to focus on what I enjoy most: debugging, balancing, redesigning systems, adding puzzles, and expanding the story — without constantly switching back to world-building. I’ve also created a roadmap for myself.

I don’t really need one — most of the game already lives in my head — but it helps me stay structured, finish things properly, and make things clearer for the team.

I won’t be sharing the roadmap, since it contains major spoilers. I’ve considered making a public version, but honestly, I’d rather spend that energy actually working on the game and talking to you directly. So… what’s actually been done?

  • Finished building Herobus, a very fun city

  • Completed a large chunk of the overworld

  • Finished most of the story

  • Pre-built 3 new dungeons

  • Pre-built 2 new cities

  • Pre-built a big secret 👀 Changes & Improvements

Removed the hotkey bar (too complicated and unnecessary)

  • Removed overworld skills from the main skill list

  • Added a Techniques menu for overworld abilities

  • Added new sprites for sound sliders

  • Added various effects and sounds

  • Added WASD movement by default

System Redesigns

  • Overworld skills (like wind) are now used directly with buttons (L1/R1 etc.) → no more menu → hotkey → navigation loop

  • Hookshot system completely reworked → same feel for the player, much more stable internally

Mining system redesigned → again, same feel, far more reliable Going forward, I’ll mainly focus on improving and expanding systems, while Anna continues building out the world.

I hope this gives you confidence in where Nyx is right now — and where it’s heading. And to answer the question I’ve been getting a lot lately:

Yes, I am absolutely still working on Nyx. Tell your friends, family — even your pets — about the game. Wishlist it on Steam, play the demo, and send feedback. I’m always open to it.

Thanks for reading ❤️

Ratt~
