Nomad changes
Until now, Project Nomad has lived in fragments... glimpses of combat, atmosphere, and mechanics that hinted at something larger.
Today, we open the scroll entirely.
Here is the full vision: the direction, the themes, and the loop that ties Zarqa's journey together.
The Desert Loop: Explore, Fall, Remember
Nomad combines roguelite stakes with the freedom of non-linear exploration. You choose which rooms to visit, strategize your route through the desert, and forge your own path toward the enemy clan.
But the desert is unforgiving. When you fall:
What you lose: Your temporary Boons... volatile blessings that enhanced your current run... scatter back to the dust. The room layouts, enemies, and rewards shift entirely.
What remains: Your coins, consumables, key items, permanent abilities, and story progress. Death is a realignment of the sands, not a reset of who Zarqa has become.
Two Kinds of Power
Your strength grows in two distinct ways:
- Permanent AbilitiesUnlock core combat and traversal tools that stay with you forever. A swift Dash. New Arrow Types. Powerful Ultimate Abilities on cooldown. These can be upgraded further using Diamonds... rare, limited, and worth fighting for.
Boons: Volatile blessings for a single run. Turn your arrows into area-of-effect explosions. Transform your Dash into a damaging strike. Powerful while they last. Gone when you fall.
Find both by clearing enemy camps, trading with desert Merchants, or uncovering them inside puzzle rooms and ancient chests.
Zarqa's Story
You play as Zarqa (Based on the legend of Zarqa al-Yamama), a woman born with the legendary, uncanny sight to perceive threats from days away, a gift that ultimately could not save her people or her husband from a brutal massacre. Left with nothing but a burning oath of vengeance, she hunts the rival clan responsible for her tragedy. Armed with her late husband’s bow, a quiver of specialized utility arrows, and a mind sharpened by grief, she must navigate the harshest, unforgiving landscapes of the Arabian Peninsula to claim her retribution. Her sight is no longer a warning for peace; it is a tool for execution.
The Main Quest: Traverse punishing desert biomes, survive brutal trials, and systematically dismantle the rival clan until you force their leader into the light.
Side Quests: The desert is alive with other travelers, nomads, and outcasts. Intervene in their struggles, protect them from lethal ambushes, and track down what they’ve lost. Their survival stories run parallel to her path of blood.
The True Ending: Hunt down every optional Biome Boss hidden across the expanse. Defeat them all, and something ancient waits beyond the final battle, a hidden plot reserved strictly for those who refuse to leave any stone unturned.
What Stands Against You
The Clan Forces: Aggressive frontline brawlers, calculated ranged archers, and backline healers working together to shut down your runs. Every encounter demands tactical precision.
Biome Guardians: Each environment has its own Boss... custom-built to reflect their biome, with unique arenas and attack patterns that demand completely different strategies to overcome.
