Devlog #3 — Dungeons & Battles in the World of Nocan’s Quest

Nocan was never the kind of man who aimed for a quiet life. If he has to choose between a calm, safe path and a dungeon filled with whispers, groans, and the shine of gold — he’ll pick the dungeon every time. That’s just who he is: if fate hides treasure deep in ancient ruins, under sand and bones, then that’s exactly where he’s going. Today, we’re talking about two things the barbarian loves almost as much as women: dungeons and a good fight.

In the harsh Wastelands, there aren’t many ways to earn good money. One of the most profitable — and at the same time one of the most dangerous — is exploring ancient ruins and underground complexes.

On his journey, Nocan will go through more than one dungeon. Together with him, you’ll:

• explore sand-covered ruins of forgotten ages

• move through oppressive cave labyrinths

• step into ancient temples that promise death to anyone who disturbs their rest

And in every one of these places you’ll find enemies, traps, secrets… and, of course, gold.

As you progress through the story, you’ll face all kinds of opponents. A cowardly goblin, a hungry cannibal, or a restless skeleton — none of them will make the fight feel like a peaceful moonlit walk.

Combat is fully turn-based.

How battles work:

• each fight is divided into turns

• on your turn, you choose one skill

• each skill consumes stamina

• a wrong decision can easily cost Nocan his life

To defeat stronger enemies, you’ll have to train and improve Nocan’s abilities. Ankah, a veteran of countless battles, is always ready to share his military wisdom — for a price.

We designed the turn-based system to feel dynamic and engaging, adding activities that require more player involvement than typical genre standards. What exactly are these elements? You’ll find out very soon.
