HELLO DEAR READERS!

Sorry for shouting, I just got excited! I have another update for you today, don't worry though - it's a very DAIJOUBU update and I, Reiwa Man am here to guide your through it using my words and my GENKI!

MAGNETIC PERSONALITY

Today Nippon Marathon 2 was updated to v0.45a, there's loads of new features but the one I find most interesting is the new item, the CABBAGE MAGNET!

Here's what the developers have to say about it:

"Contestants release The Cabbage Magnet into the air, the glowing vegetable then starts pulling toward it any physics objects within a certain radius, it doesn't matter if they're dogs, children, spectators, mascots, fences... anything not nailed down will be pulled toward the Cabbage Magnet creating a terrifying obstacle for any contestants unlucky enough to be in the way"Andy Madin, Onion Soup
"I'm happy that the Cabbage Magnet has been able to surprise me, I thought I was being clever by dropping it at the edge of the Shiba Park section but I didn't expect the chain-link gates to suddenly swing inwards from the magnetic force and hit me in the face knocking me all the way back into last place!"Amy Madin, Onion Soup

My goodness, that sounds like one dangerous health-food! I can't wait to see some screenshots of Cabbage Magnet related shenanigans! Before we dive into more detail, here are the patch notes...

NM2 v0.45 Patch Notes

  • Added a new weapon - Cabbage Magnet! When released the cabbage magnet draws objects toward it to block the path behind you or squash opponents within the physics mess!

  • New feature - If the final two players are eliminated at the same time the round now ends in a DRAW

  • Melon explosions now do damage to nearby breakable objects

  • Powerful Water hazard now dies off after a few seconds and is slightly less powerful

  • Mouse pointer is now captured during photo mode

  • Fixed some dry ramen blocks not being walkable

  • Removed the Depth of Field effect from the factory section of Let's Go Ramen Museum as it was clashing with the fog effect

  • Fixed the school sailor suit outfit in contestant creator

  • Added selectable first and last commentary names for custom contestants

  • Improved Sudden Death - melon bombardment now includes visible targets, better placement and melon number increases over time

  • Fixed the egg bomb crosshair sound from effect from playing at the start of Deer Town

  • New snapshots have a small notification on them until they have been viewed

  • Snapshots can now be deleted or protected from the snapshots gallery

  • All 108 slots for snapshots are now available and working and new snapshots have notifications

  • CPU who don't like shortcuts or risky paths now much more likely to avoid them

  • Yoko Harbour = improved the area around the forklift racers

  • Blocked the collection of new weapons during the cucumber spin

  • Stopped CPU from being able to dive while using the pineapple balloon

  • Added CPU conditions for using the mushroom

  • Changed mushroom item, now needs to be 'used' and lasts for a few seconds and has new sfx

  • SFX volume now muted when pausing the game or going into photo mode

  • Attempted to fix problems with players getting stuck in exhausted state

  • Added 240fps cap option to the settings menu

  • Fixed a bug where custom contestants would float too low using the pineapple

  • Added 2 new voice packs to the contestant creator

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES (MUSHROOM CHANGES)

There's been a big change to how the mushroom item works, you'll now need to activate the mushroom item, it will then dispense its smelly spores as usual but only for a limited time.

SNAPSHOT UPGRADES

Wouldn't it be lovely if you could delete unwanted snapshots from your collection or even protect the ones you don't want to lose? Well now you can! Simply press the Info button and a new menu appears on the highlighted image. Now you can lock all of those smiling Snuguru snapshots you love so much!

NOBODY WINS? EVERYBODY LOSES!

You know when you're playing Nippon Marathon 2 and you send your friend crashing into the sea, but you also fall in the sea and somehow THEY WIN? Well NOT ANY MORE! If the final two players are eliminated within 1 second of each other the round now ends in a delightfully unsatisfying DRAW. Yay!

FIRST NAME LAST NAME

The contestant creator has a fun new addition, now you can select a first and last name which will be spoken by Sora, so if you've been yearning to hear him say "Unemployed Grandma is holding a cucumber!" then you're in luck because that is now possible!

NEW CONTESTANT CREATOR STUFF

Technically these additions managed to sneak into the previous update, but I wanted to show you at least the new footwear because, well, I like Shiba Inu slippers too much:

SENSATIONAL SCREENSHOTS

Today I'm gonna share some of Onion Soup's own screenshots featuring the new Cabbage Magnet item and some of the new custom contestant parts, so, let's go ahead!

Steam post image"It's a me... Gary O!"

Steam post image"There are four lights!"

Steam post image"Super Gary O, Crowd Knife, Captain John Luke Prichard and Princess Bunny-Moonlight"

Steam post image"Beam me up, Scotsman!"

Well, that's about it for 「NIPPON NEWS DAIJOUBU」ISSUE #7, make sure you share your screenshots on Steam and I'll include them in future issues! :D
