Mytosis changes
I wanted to share this personally instead of simply posting patch notes.
When Mytosis first launched, it was a 2D game. It somehow worked, and I'm grateful to everyone who played it, but I always felt there was something missing. The idea behind Mytosis was always about watching a single organism grow, evolve, and transform through different stages of life. I wanted players to truly feel that journey and experience the process of evolution in a more immersive way. I knew the game had more potential, so I went back and rebuilt it from the ground up.
For those who are new here, this was Mytosis before. The core concept has always remained the same, but the game was originally a fully 2D experience. At some point, I started wondering what Mytosis could become if I brought that same idea into a 3D world, an incremental game set in a 3D containment, and that thought eventually led to this complete overhaul.
Mytosis is now fully 3D. This isn't just a visual upgrade, it's a complete overhaul. You begin again as a simple lifeform, gather DNA, and guide your evolution through eleven stages of growth, transforming into something far beyond where you started, all inside a fully realized 3D underwater environment. (a simulated aquarium containment)
Here's what went into the overhaul:
A completely new 3D underwater environment. Mytosis has been transformed from a 2D experience into a living underwater world filled with atmosphere, ambient life, and a greater sense of scale.
New organism designs. Each stage of evolution has been redesigned in 3D with unique forms, appearances, and behaviors that bring the evolution process to life.
A redesigned DNA Harvester tool. Use the harvester to shoot plasma fluid at organisms and collect their DNA. The harvesting process has been improved with better feedback, making the process feel more connected to your evolution.
A new Evolution Tree system. Shape your organism's evolution through different paths that affect DNA production, harvesting efficiency, and how quickly you progress toward your next evolution.
New automation systems. Automate parts of the DNA harvesting process to speed up progression and allow your organism to continue developing while you are away.
A new Specimen Archive. Discover and inspect every organism you encounter, view your collection in 3D, and examine each stage of evolution up close.
A brand-new UI, richer ambient sea life, and extensive performance improvements to make Mytosis feel like the game it was always meant to be.
A tremendous amount of care went into every part of this overhaul, and I hope you enjoy this small creation of mine.
I'm a solo developer, so this was a huge undertaking. If you already own Mytosis, this update is completely free. It's the version I always wanted to deliver. And if you're discovering the game for the first time, welcome aboard Doctor!.
I read every review, forum post, and bug report. Your feedback has helped shape this game, and it will continue to do so. If something doesn't feel right, let me know and I'll do my best to fix it.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
