My Trailer Park Life changes
Steam post image
Here are some essentials so you don’t end up miserable.
Hookups
These are the utility connections provided by RV parks:
Electricity
Fresh Water
Sewer Connection
When connected, your RV can operate like a small house without worrying about its limited resources.
The park charges a premium for luxury. Hookups are way more expensive than managing things yourself.
Fresh Water Tank
Fresh water tanks are used when you are not connected to a park hookup. When your tank runs dry, you’ll need to find a water source to refill it.
All water you use will eventually end up in your RV’s gray/black tanks.
Waste Water Tanks (Gray / Black Tanks)
Everything eventually ends up here.
If you pay for a sewer hookup, you can forget about them.
If you want to save money, you’ll need to monitor tank levels and empty them manually before things get ugly.
And they can get ugly :)
Portable Generators
Generators are your workaround for skipping the park’s electric bill. They can be cheaper long-term, but come with trade-offs:
Fuel consumption
Obnoxious ~70dB noise
Keep them outside, don’t leave them in the rain, and keep them away from propane unless you’re looking for excitement.
Propane Tanks
Located at the very front of your RV. These fuel your stove and refrigerator.
When they run dry, you can’t cook and your food spoils.
Unhook them and refill at a gas station.
Your RV currently does not have a functioning water heater or air conditioner. Good luck.
