Hi,

In this devlog, we want to take a closer look at a system we’ve been working on recently driving the van.

From the beginning, it was clear to us that we didn’t want to turn this into a typical open-world experience where you just move from marker to marker. The camper is not meant to be just a vehicle. It’s a mobile base that changes how you approach exploration and defense.

Not Just Point A to Point B

We expect driving itself to make up around 15% of the gameplay. The rest is still focused on building, survival, and defense.

The camper allows you to:

  • move faster between key locations

  • prepare for specific events on the map

  • create temporary defensive points outside your main base

You won’t simply “drive to missions.” It’s more about deciding where to set up and whether it’s even worth leaving a safe position.

At the moment, the camper can be docked in specific locations:

  • in your main base (where your bunker is)

  • at selected points on the map that you will need to defend

In your base, the camper connects directly to the bunker. In other locations, things work differently there’s no underground area, but you can build traps around the camper and use it as the center of your defense. It becomes your “core” that you need to keep alive.

Damage and Repairs

The camper can take damage both visually and mechanically. This will have a real impact on how it performs, so ignoring it will come back to bite you.

For now, repairs are simple: you use a hammer and scrap to bring it back into working condition. This system may evolve over time, but we want to keep it clear and easy to understand.

Modifications and Progression

We’re planning to introduce camper modifications, but without tying them to a specific workshop location. Right now, we’re aiming for a separate menu where you’ll manage upgrades.

Planned features include:

  • additional offensive and defensive elements

  • roof-mounted equipment (already visible in the trailer)

What Matters Most Right Now

Currently, we’re focused on:

  • improving the driving feel

  • integrating the camper with the defense systems

  • balancing its role in the overall gameplay

We don’t want it to be overpowered or useless. It should be a tool that gives you an advantage, but also requires planning and comes with risk.

Don’t forget to add Mr. Nomad to your wishlist! Mr Nomad Thanks,

and see you in the next devlog.
