Repeated intro
Hello everyone! Before talking about today's update, we'd like to share a few things happening behind the scenes at Mad Pumpkins.
What changed
- Gameplay
- Events
- Fixes
- UI and audio
- Workshop
Over the past few weeks, we've been in contact with several American studios and industry professionals. We're currently exploring potential co-production opportunities that could help us accelerate development and bring new expertise to Movierooms. Nothing is finalized yet, but we're excited to see where these discussions may lead.
We're also beginning to participate in more events connected to the cinema and film industry itself. We hope this will bring exciting opportunities, new collaborations, and perhaps even a few surprises that we'll be able to share with you in the future!
And finally... summer is approaching! ☀️
Here in Italy, we've already been dealing with extremely hot temperatures for over a month. Our PCs are working almost as hard as we are and occasionally seem ready to burst into flames themselves... thankfully not as often as some of your projectors! 😄
🛠️ Today's Update
🔥 Projector Fire System Finalized
We've completed the first version of the projector fire event system, including the new:
"Fire Alert – Call 911"
So what happens now?
If you neglect maintenance and allow your projector (or Magic Lantern in the early eras) to deteriorate too much, it can catch fire.
When this happens:
Employees can attempt to extinguish the fire.
Gaspard will appear, visibly worried, encouraging you to call the firefighters.
The damaged projector will no longer function.
You'll need to remove it and purchase a replacement.
In other words: neglecting maintenance now has real consequences... and real costs! 😉
🐛 Additional Fixes
We've also resolved several smaller issues, including:
UI text overflowing outside interface windows.
Various building and placement bugs.
Additional save system improvements and fixes.
⚙️ New Internal Bug Reporting Tools
We've created a new internal workflow that allows us to review bug reports directly inside Unity.
This means your reports can now be analyzed much faster, helping us identify, reproduce and resolve issues more efficiently than before.
Thank you to everyone who continues sending reports—they genuinely make a difference.
Next Update
🎭 New Customer Characters
Many of you have already seen the new employee models.
Next, we're moving on to the customers!
Expect:
New customer character models.
New animations.
Better visual variety.
More personality and immersion throughout your cinema.
🐱The Feature You've Been Waiting For...
Yes.
The cat is coming.
In the 1900 era, you'll be able to hire a cat to help keep mice away from your cinema.
We're not joking.
And honestly, we're just as excited about it as many of you seem to be. 😸
We had originally hoped to include these features in today's update, but we won't hide the truth: both tasks ended up requiring more work than expected.
We'd rather take a little extra time and release something solid than rush it out unfinished.
Thank you again for your patience, your support, your bug reports, your suggestions, and for continuing to help us build Movierooms.
See you very soon! Mad Pumpkins Team 🎃🎃🎃
