changedHi community! Our first week as a Steam game has passed. We have laughed, cried, not slept very much, and frantically patched our poor server to help her handle the flood of new players. It's now time to tell you a bit about what we have done and what we will be doing in the coming days. Stressed servers Yes, the servers have indeed been under a lot of stress this first week. We anticipated a large influx of new players but were not prepared for this. Our character database grew to twice its pre-Steam size in just 3 days! This means that we got as many new player/items/skills during the first 3 days on Steam as we have collected during 5 years of running the game! Initially this caused server instability, but we fixed most of that during the weekend. The queue system was also updated and improved. It's far from perfect but will handle some of the worst stress. Changes were also made to assure that paying players would get in faster than F2P. We also increased spawns around the tutorial areas to keep those pigs coming even with the massive amount of bacon harvesting going on in the starting zones. Steam feedback We initially received several complains that players had to supply too much personal information, and we changed this on day 2 of the Steam release. When creating a new account on https://account.mortalonline.com/ you no longer need to fill in all the information just to get started with a free account. We are grateful for this feedback and we think this is a good change. The reason we had it set up like that in the past is that if you wanted to pay using our system the company that provides that solution requires a whole lot of information to make sure you are who you say you are. But now that you can pay using Steam this information is no longer required. Subscription and steam During the first couple of days, we also had some issues with subscriptions bought through Steam that were taking way too long to activate. These issues have been worked on and should now work much quicker. I would like to clarify how this system works: Once you have bought your subscription, the next account you login with in the game will get the subscription. It can sometimes take a couple of minutes for this to take effect so if you don't get it immediately please wait a couple of minutes and try again. You will only get the subscription if the account you login with isn't currently subscribed. So if you already have a subscription you need to wait for that to run out before you get the next month. We have asked Steam to add this information to the store when you buy the subscription and they have told us they will do that ASAP. Next patch We have a hotfix patch on the test server as we speak. If everything goes well this patch will be released to you tomorrow. It mostly contains fixes for some of the most common locations for players to get stuck, a few added tutors and lootables, but also improvements that should fix the "getting character data" loop that some players run into when the server is stressed. Thank you streamers! A lot of people have been streaming our game on YouTube and Twitch this week and we would like to take some time
