  • Maps

changedIt has some roguelike elements to it, but not in the way you may expect. Maps are procedurally generated, so every run is completely different, but you won’t be carrying over stat boosts or items after you die. Your success hinges on your skill, the choices you make, and the information you gather on each run rather than incremental upgrades.
changedWe designed the game to be punishing, but not unfair. There will be events that are dictated by dice rolls, but even those can be manipulated based on the choices you make. We wanted to make a game that was tough, where every second felt like you were seconds away from death, but also a game that gave you the power to make your choices and have them be meaningful.

Welcome to The Dying Lands, filth.

But seriously, thanks to everyone who has checked out the demo for the most brutal ARPG around, MÖRK BORG Heresy Supreme! We wanted to take a minute to answer some of the most common questions we get about the game.

What is MÖRK BORG Heresy Supreme?

MÖRK BORG Heresy Supreme is a bleak doom metal action RPG where the apocalypse is actively happening around you. As you explore The Dying Lands, your journey and the choices you make will either speed up the end of the world, bringing existence to a screeching halt, or stop the impending doom once and for all. Are there any roguelike elements?

It has some roguelike elements to it, but not in the way you may expect. Maps are procedurally generated, so every run is completely different, but you won’t be carrying over stat boosts or items after you die. Your success hinges on your skill, the choices you make, and the information you gather on each run rather than incremental upgrades.

How do classes and leveling up work?

The characters you recruit will each have their own distinct fighting style and latent abilities. These different characters are how we implement “classes” in the game, rather than other games that let you customize your own unique build. This forces you to adapt quickly to different playstyles as you lose characters (and you definitely will).

Leveling up will help increase your abilities, impacting how brutally devastating you are in combat, and help increase the likelihood of successful dice rolls. However, leveling up can also trigger a curse, which will cause an increase in your abilities, but also apply a negative penalty to your character.

How hard is MÖRK BORG Heresy Supreme?

We designed the game to be punishing, but not unfair. There will be events that are dictated by dice rolls, but even those can be manipulated based on the choices you make. We wanted to make a game that was tough, where every second felt like you were seconds away from death, but also a game that gave you the power to make your choices and have them be meaningful.

Whether that’s in combat, who you recruit to your party, or how you use your items, you will have to make choices and live with the consequences, for better or worse.

Do I have to know anything about the TTRPG MÖRK BORG?

Not at all! The game takes place in the world of Mörk Borg, but you don’t need to have played the TTRPG to get the full experience. If you have played the original, you’ll be familiar with the brutal world of The Dying Lands that we’ve adapted.

Thank you to everyone who has tried out the demo so far and provided feedback over the last few weeks. We’re really excited to have the game in Steam Next Fest, and we can’t wait to show you more in the coming months.

Does the game support both keyboard and gamepad?

Yes the game supports both keyboard and gamepad. Keyboard controls use a simplified default version that can be rebind to your liking and your playstyle.

Is It compatible with Steam Deck?

The game runs smoothly on Steam Deck and gamepad controls are based on the Steam Deck layout.

How long will it take to complete the full game?

Due to the roguelike elements, the game can be played for as much as you like. An length depends on the main quest that will be generated when you start a run, how many side tasks you choose to complete, and on which path you decide to choose when venturing in the Dying Lands. A full run can take anywhere from 2 to 5 hours, and you'll need several runs in order to get to a point where you can actually "beat" the game. This means that you'll probably need 20-30 hours to get to the finale.

Don’t let the apocalypse get you down,

Morbidware
