Gameplay Updates - May 16, 2026

It’s been over 2 weeks since launch. Thanks to everyone who has come along for the ride. It takes a leap of faith to trust a new game from a new studio, one with barely any marketing.

addedIt’s been over 2 weeks since launch. Thanks to everyone who has come along for the ride. It takes a leap of faith to trust a new game from a new studio, one with barely any marketing. It’s thanks to folks like you that seek out unique experiences from, well wherever it is you found out about Monster Lily!
fixedSparkly Stone added. These behave like unidentified stones, except they are never bad! You’ll start with one, and there may be other opportunities to obtain them during a run. • Adjusted the earliest possible Forge spawn to Floor 9. Note that Forges also have a unique tactical use: cleansing the weapon you sacrifice. This allows players to load weapons with unidentified inks to identify them, then recover the inks afterward. This gives Forges more strategic value in the mid and late game. The expected number of Forges per run has not changed. • Major buff to Scorpion Whip, extending range from 3 to 5 and increasing ammo. • Minor buff to Ninja Ink damage. This addresses an issue where its damage was unintentionally low (2–3). • Buff to the Holy Lance. +1 damage and slightly better damage scaling. • Slightly reduced the odds of negative gemstones. Some seeds were really unfair before. • Removed the Flower Gemstone type. Going forward, all negative gemstones will use the “Weak” effect instead. • Fixed an issue with Scream Doors. They should now only produce a loud noise the first time they are opened. • Changed the color of a very dangerous late-game poisonous monster so it draws more player attention. • As well as several smaller balance and gameplay refinements that may not be immediately noticeable.
changedWith regards to the ‘Flower Gemstone’, I was not a fan that the player had no way to manage it. At least with the Weakness Stone, if you are battling a monster you are weak against..you have the option to take the armor off! This leaves some agency in the player’s control.

Onto the updates:

  • Sparkly Stone added. Note the purpose of the buffs and some of these changes are not to make the game easier but to make more builds viable. The game is hard but there should be a variety of different strategies to win.

With regards to the ‘Flower Gemstone’, I was not a fan that the player had no way to manage it. At least with the Weakness Stone, if you are battling a monster you are weak against..you have the option to take the armor off! This leaves some agency in the player’s control.

Until next time!
