It's been ✨ ONE WEEK ✨ since Momento secretly launched on Steam during Wholesome Direct, and what a week it's been! We wanted to put together a post to talk about what we've been working on this past weeks, some known issues that have appeared, and a couple things coming down the pike.

Reviews

We've had some lovely coverage from a few outlets, including Checkpoint Gaming, ScreenHub, Gaming.net and Game Grin! Still a bit wild to see these come in!

A few QOL updates! 🎉

We are working on more of these that will come with a future patch, so stay tuned!

  • 🌖 increased the brightness for nighttime levels

  • ⌨️ updated key rebinding so you can't softlock

  • ⌨️ two actions can now be rebound to have the same key input

  • 🧩 updated a few puzzle solutions so they're not as strict

  • 🔍 working on a way to see all the levels at once (and a level select 👀)

  • 💻 made some silly goofs with streamers. No, AO3 is not in the game... yet?

Known Issues! 📋

We've had one gnarly bug in particular (unexpected crashing) that we're working to fix. We'll be updating known issues in this thread in our Steam Forums if you want to keep track!

  • 💥 Some players are still experiencing crashes. We've put through four patches to fix it, but it's persistent, so we're still figuring out what could be causing it. We've updated Unity as well which we think will help—the particle system seems to be a likely culprit.

  • 🧐 Missing key choices in some levels (we're on the hunt!)

  • ⚙️ Legacy items breaking from mid-level saves

  • 🎨 On Mac: Creative Mode presets breaking.

Bugs Squashed! 🐞

Just a little taste of bugs, you can see more of them in individual updates!

  • A misplaced ending in our ink file resulted in cryptic text ("HIDE ME") sneaking through to the Beach House. Some enterprising players on Steam assumed it was narrative & we do appreciate that faith in us, but it was a bug 😅

  • Some players were getting soft locked by placing context clues behind the unpacking boxes. We've prevented this from happening!

  • Couldn't snap blocks to the "halfway" setting

  • Books on windowsills weren't connecting properly

  • Layering issues tweaked on some items

  • Colliders updated on some furniture

Console Timing

We're so excited that console ports are coming very soon: June 30th! SO close!
