Repeated intro

Hello, everyone! New year, new content for Mistwinter Bay! This update is called 1.1 since it is the first one that adds new story content, namely 15 new short main events. We plan to have about 1 or 2 more of these content updates and at that point, we will have added what we wanted to the game. We will of course keep fixing bugs after that, but there will be no new content - not that that should be an issue, considering how much there already is!

Anyhow, here's what's new in this update:

New content

  • With the addition of 12 new meetups, all townsfolk now have 2 meetups each! Just as the other meetups, the new ones are counted as short main events

    • The character duos who have new meetups are:

      Dawn and Dough

      ,

      Cecil and MG

      ,

      Erewen and Yamileth

      ,

      Ulesse and Te’Rohga

      ,

      Englia and Edmund

      ,

      Hector and Islynor

      ,

      Lynx and Ulvar

      ,

      Oscar and Amelie

      ,

      Lilith and Rocca

      ,

      Jerome and Eugene

      ,

      Euphemia and Laith

      ,

      Zane and Faye

  • A short main event where MG and Ulvar interact based on some very specific requirements, one being both characters’ personal quests having been completed in very specific ways. This event is not counted as a meetup

  • A short main event that requires low guard presence

  • A short main event that allows you to learn more about Mistwinter Bay’s history in the form of a test that can earn you coins. Can only occur year 2 and later

Fixed

  • The game no longer crashes when trying to start a new main event after having declined to convert to Avallerism when attempting to create an alliance between Meblia and Ethal in Camilla’s first personal quest

  • When failing to arrange/declining a trade deal with Yscor on Utrua’s behalf in Orreg’s first personal quest, there is no longer a loop that restarts the negotiation in Yscor during all following game months

  • The option to pay for good food during the coronation should now show up properly regardless of if you can or can’t afford to pay for it. If you can’t afford it, you will be presented with the other two options again a bit later in the dialogue

Added

  • It is now possible to skip through dialogue by using the Control-key

    • The shortcut functions the same as using the on-screen button

    • There is no documentation of the shortcut in the game

Adjusted

  • The standard initial resource production for wood and stone has been lowered from 5 to 2. The production when using easy mode remains unchanged at 10

    • The production change will only affect new playthroughs

    • The change will produce “ugly numbers”, but will hopefully make the game more reasonably difficult, since the 5 wood and stone per month made it too easy (especially now that there is an easy mode). We hope that having 2 production will still avoid players being completely unable to build things, whilst ensuring that everything in the town isn’t built too early (like year 3 or early year 4). It will hopefully also make certain major achievements, like forming an alliance, more special and worthwhile.

  • The modeling short main event now presents characters to send out with light buttons (“likely to succeed”) instead of dark buttons (“less likely to succeed”). Nothing else has changed in the event

Grammar

  • Corrected various minor grammatical mistakes

We hope that you enjoy these new events if you encounter them and that you will have fun with the game regardless! We will see you again for the next update.
