changedIn this update we've decided to focus on your most often suggestions: performance upgrades and changes in control scheme. We've optimized multiple elements of the game and significantly expanded the control options — all of it is to ensure that playing House on the Hill will be as pleasant an experience as possible. Here's what awaits you in this update:
changedPerformance improvement:Locations of the game have been divided into smaller segments to make their loading smoother and less noticeable during play-through.
addedPerformance improvement:We've added the ability to completely disable Post-Process and Anti-Aliasing in the Settings menu in order to increase performance on slow computers.
changedPerformance improvement:Lights, materials and textures have been examined and reworked to increase performance without sacrifices in image quality. This reduced the workload on a video-card and also decreased overall game size from 10.5 GB to 8 GB.
addedNew Control Options:The Default button has been added to the Settings section in case you are not sure about your changes.
addedText Quality Improvements:Our new friend, Dan Weatherer, has been helping us a lot with our English version of the game. Because of him many notes and descriptions now sound much more natural than before.

In this update we've decided to focus on your most often suggestions: performance upgrades and changes in control scheme. We've optimized multiple elements of the game and significantly expanded the control options — all of it is to ensure that playing House on the Hill will be as pleasant an experience as possible. Here's what awaits you in this update:

Performance improvement:

  • Locations of the game have been divided into smaller segments to make their loading smoother and less noticeable during play-through.

  • We've added the ability to completely disable Post-Process and Anti-Aliasing in the Settings menu in order to increase performance on slow computers.

  • Lights, materials and textures have been examined and reworked to increase performance without sacrifices in image quality. This reduced the workload on a video-card and also decreased overall game size from 10.5 GB to 8 GB.

New Control Options:

  • Let's start with the main thing right away: Now you can play House on the Hill on a gamepad!

  • Now you can change the key bindings in the Controls section of the Menu. You can freely change both the keyboard and the gamepad controls.

  • The Default button has been added to the Settings section in case you are not sure about your changes.

Text Quality Improvements:

Our new friend, Dan Weatherer, has been helping us a lot with our English version of the game. Because of him many notes and descriptions now sound much more natural than before.

Apart from that, we also worked on many small bugs and issues. Here's just a few of them.

Other changes:

  • There were difficulties in taking a picture of the last door on the second floor. Fixed.

  • Some street elements overlapped with each other. Fixed.

  • The appearance of the several items has been fixed: calendar, tablets, powder and others.

  • A bug where you could see emptiness behind the door on the second floor has been removed.

  • We've added an additional checkpoint in the final part of the game, right before your choice.

  • Fixed a bug when a mannequin appeared, his hand could pass through the wall.

  • Broken plates will no longer teleport into a sad, desolate oblivion of a porcelain afterlife. They will stay on the floor.

  • In some cases the door of the office on the first floor could stay open during a cutscene. In that case the player was able to see a spawn of the enemy. Fixed.

  • We also added many other minor improvements and fixes.
