Midnight Train: New Moon changes
Hello everyone! ✨ It's time for a new development blog!
You can find previous devlogs on my Ko-fi, but now that the Steam page for the game has been unveiled, they will also be posted here from now on!
Since this is the first devlog featured on Steam, I'd like to introduce the game and myself first before talking about development.
Let's get to it!
🌙🚂 Midnight Train: New Moon 🚂🌙
Midnight Train: New Moon is a 2D exploration-based horror adventure game in which the protagonist, Luna, tries to escape from a strange building by finding the next train in time. It focuses on puzzle-solving, exploration, and making deductions to uncover the truth behind the train.
It's a remake of the game Midnight Train, a free game that was released in 2020. It was praised for its intriguing story and characters, so I'm aiming to make this remake more accessible so more people can play it.
It's heavily inspired by the Japanese horror RPG games. If you're a fan of that genre, you definitely can't miss out on this game!

I'm the main developer behind this game, and also the one writing this devlog!
I'm a game developer from Spain, who focuses on developing horror and mystery games using the RPG Maker engine.
Back when I was in high school, I discovered the classic horror RPG Maker games that came from Japan, and I was absolutely fascinated by their interesting stories and mechanics. They made such a big impression on me, that I decided to learn the engine so that I could create my own games.
My games were only officially released in English and Spanish, but this remake will also be released in other languages, so I'm happy to finally be able to bring my stories to more people!
⬇️ Now, let’s talk about the current progress of the game! ⬇️
🌙🚂 Progress 🚂🌙
Chapter 3 has been completed and Chapter 4 production has started! 🎉
Midnight Train: New Moon is divided into 4 main chapters, which means the overall game is now 75% completed! Only the final chapter and the epilogue is left!
Chapter 3 has been the most challenging chapter to develop so far. It's longer than the previous chapters, the maps were more complicated to create, and it features a variety of new additions that weren't included in the original game. But, despite all the difficulties, it's my favorite chapter so far, so I hope you'll enjoy it!
With the game completion finally in sight, I'm more motivated than ever to keep working hard. It's exciting to see everything come together after so much work. I hope you'll stay with me through the final stretch as I complete the last chapter and prepare for the game's release!
🌙🚂 Next Steps 🚂🌙
Well like I mentioned, it's time to start Chapter 4 production!
Since this is a remake, I always start by revisiting the original game, and making a list of all the changes and additions I'd like to make. Then, I start creating some of the basic assets and the maps needed. This game has over 200 maps to explore, so it's a lot of work! Despite being a remake, I also write all the text and dialogue from scratch, based on the original, to ensure the quality is as high as possible.
There's a lot of work ahead, but I'm also really excited to finally start working on the final chapter! It will be difficult to share screenshots of the final chapter due to spoilers, but there's a lot of stuff I've never showcased before, so please look forward to it!
Thank you so much for supporting the development of the game! 💜
Please look forward to the next devlog!
