Midnight Horde Demo Celebration: Patch Notes
Thank you for playing the demo of Midnight Horde! Your feedback has helped me shape the game into a better experience, and I'm thrilled to share all the updates I have made based on the feedback. Here’s a summary of all the new features, balance changes, and fixes I implemented based on your input.
New Features
Added tooltips for better clarity:
- On popup unlocks in the main menu.
- On chest rewards.
- In the inventory during level-up.
Introduced a Gold quest: Stay alive for 1 minute to earn gold earlier.
Added a gold-spawning building.
All pickups like heal or summon-all-xp now recharge.
Improved castle building selection and zoom focus on the selected piece.
Enhanced level socket readability and appearance.
Updated the power-up menu to make it juicier.
Power-ups you can afford are now highlighted.
Added a new sound for the winning screen.
Balance Changes
Spread bosses out more evenly and nerfed certain events.
Skull boss eyes now have increased HP when they drop out.
Reduced many power-up menu stat costs by up to 50%.
The red XP now slowly moves toward the player.
Introduced a new difficulty scaling system where perk upgrades increase enemy HP by 35% instead of 50%.
Lowered the number of upgrades for many stats during a run to allow for faster synergy unlocks.
Out-of-map teleport now:
- Pushes enemies away.
- Makes the player invulnerable for 1 second.
Death from Above now triggers on normal falling as well.
Nerfed Explosive Monster speed.
Made it easier to get more chest rewards when repeatedly earning them.
Readability Improvements
Monsters are now dark until they finish climbing.
Heavy Landing now features more particles and a new sound effect.
Out-of-map teleport slows down time and shows damage before teleporting.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a major bug that doubled power-up stats when upgrading again.
Reduced lag caused by ghosts.
Explosion Monster damage radius now matches the visible explosion.
Fixed Speed Bullets incorrectly pointing to Machine Gun as an evolved state.
Winning menu updates correctly now.
Fixed the 20-minute quest goal not triggering.
Improved localization for Roman numerals.
Adjusted settings menu for better usability.
Reduced shakiness of the Rod of God.
Fixed splash screen resolution issues.
Fixed number scrolling and text alignment issues in the castle builder.
Resolved Steam Cloud save issues.
I hope the demo has been fun! I got a lot of new energy watching people play the game.
I will let the demo stay up for at least a month more. But for now I will try to wind down the updates and try to take some holiday vacation.
