changedHello everyone! We are delighted to announce that we are finally finished with the major Horror 2.0 expansion and, above all, the overhaul. This update makes the gameplay and the horror even more dynamic.
changedSanityWe have reworked the horror system so that horror events are now largely responsible for lowering your Sanity. So if you see or hear a lot of paranormal things, your Sanity will drop faster. In addition, you will lose less/slower Sanity when you are in the light.
addedImprovements to the entitiesWe have revised and improved the AI and the way the Entities hunt. The entities can now hear your microphones and react to them. They also look at the player they are currently targeting or chasing and have new spawn and despawn animations.
changedImprovements to the entitiesWe've made a UI improvement to the mechanic that lets entities hear your microphones. Now you can see how loud you are when you talk in your audio meter.
addedNew way of huntingEntities no longer make a loud noise when they spawn, but they search more slowly. They can only hunt “properly” when the new midnight bells sound. This tells you that things are getting serious. Entities can now search rooms independently and look around before making their next move. Basically, hunting is now more unpredictable, but just as fair, as the search speed has been adjusted. Entities only really start running when they have seen or heard something. This means that there is always an opportunity to sneak away or look for a new hiding place.
addedDestructible hiding placesYes, you read that absolutely right! The lockers you always hide in can now be destroyed by the Entities. Each locker has 3 lives. If an Entity catches you in a locker (and sometimes randomly if it feels like it), it will hit it and damage the metal. After the third hit, the door will be destroyed and you will be pulled out.

Hello everyone!

We are delighted to announce that we are finally finished with the major Horror 2.0 expansion and, above all, the overhaul. This update makes the gameplay and the horror even more dynamic.

Sanity

Let's start with sanity first. As you know, we had already implemented a sanity mechanic since the beginning, but never displayed it properly. Now you can see an overview of each player's sanity on the van.

We have reworked the horror system so that horror events are now largely responsible for lowering your Sanity. So if you see or hear a lot of paranormal things, your Sanity will drop faster. In addition, you will lose less/slower Sanity when you are in the light.

Improvements to the entities

We have revised and improved the AI and the way the Entities hunt. The entities can now hear your microphones and react to them. They also look at the player they are currently targeting or chasing and have new spawn and despawn animations.

We've made a UI improvement to the mechanic that lets entities hear your microphones. Now you can see how loud you are when you talk in your audio meter.

New way of hunting

Entities no longer make a loud noise when they spawn, but they search more slowly.

Destructible hiding places

Yes, you read that absolutely right! The lockers you always hide in can now be destroyed by the Entities. Each locker has 3 lives. If an Entity catches you in a locker (and sometimes randomly if it feels like it), it will hit it and damage the metal. After the third hit, the door will be destroyed and you will be pulled out.

New horror events

We are particularly proud of the new horror events. Now the entities are basically omnipresent. That means you'll hear or see something all the time. There are completely new unpredictable fake hunts that can pop up and scare you at any time. Entities can also now crawl on the ceiling if they want to drive you mad.

New entity

We have expanded our Entities with Yukio, our latest Entity. A floating entity which is very quiet and doesn't make any noise when it sees you. So be on your guard.

New consumable equipment

Sanity Pills We have now added Sanity Pills that restore 25% of your Sanity each.

EMP grenade With the new EMP grenades, we finally have the chance to defend ourselves against the Entities for the first time. These stun every Entity within explosion range for 5 seconds.

New difficulty level

We have added a new difficulty level “Insane”, which is the newest, highest difficulty level. It now brings a total of 75% more EXP and rewards, but has all the properties of Nightmare with even faster entities and the biggest change: The entities can spawn EVERYWHERE, as in the first version of Midnight Heist, without fixed spawn points.

Further changes and adjustments

We've also fixed a few bugs and made some changes to make your life in Midnight City a little easier. Even though the Horror 2.0 update has now been released, we will continue to make improvements, also thanks to your feedback.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed ghosts blocking each other

  • Fixed a bug where the entity Ragnok could not hear the player

  • Fixed a case where the ghost could lock players inside a room with no chance to escape. Now the ghost will only lock doors if there is a chance to escape

  • Fixed a bug where you could pick up too many items with certain perks selected

  • Fixed a bug where packages would trigger the hit sound endlessly if they were in a stack

  • Fixed a way to go out of map on Phantom Hideout

  • Fixed the door collision of some closets as player ghost

  • Fixed some boost spots

  • Fixed a bug where the operation achievement could be unlocked too early

  • And other minor bugs

Changes

  • You have now unlimited stamina outside the building

  • Changed BM mission modifier: - From: X% higher chance of being found while hiding during a hunt - To : X% chance that the ghost will break a locker with one blow

  • Changed some grocery textures

  • Added buy sound when purchasing equipment

  • Made the cupboards with the two doors to hide inside a little bigger

  • Updated the guide

  • Added a backup for the save file
