As the first post for Bramble Royale, I wanted to share an overview of where things are at and what else is on the roadmap before the 1.0 release early next year.

Where are things at?

It's been a LONG journey (more on that in a future post!) but the game is largely defined and playable end-to-end. 6 of the 8 characters are ~90% implemented in terms of cards (animations are completed).

All of the major systems are present in the game. That includes card upgrades, town vendors, combat sytesm and more. The frameworks required for achievements and localization are completed, but more work will be required there before launch.

Current Focus

Our current top priority is shipping an initial demo. We're eager to share a taste of Bramble of fans, as well as get some early gameplay and technical feedback on the game. We also know that demos are a really effective tool and generating interest and wishlists and hype.

Additionally, before the demo releases, we want to complete controller / Steam Deck support. Playing on Steam Deck is our favorite way to play and we want to make it's perfect before Bramble's first introduction to the community.

What else is left?

After the demo launch in the next month or so, we'll be focused on the long tail of stuff that you need to do in order to launch a game.

  • Intro cinematic

  • Content (heroes, enemies, cards, perks, etc... )

  • More voice overs

  • NG+ levels

  • Card / item artwork

  • Localization

  • Steam Cloud & Achivement integration

As you can see there is still a lot of work to do! This is one of the absolute toughest phases of development, where the game feels almost complete in some ways, but where you need to put in A LOT of work to get that last little bit done. The end result is what separates Very Positive from Overwhelmingly Positive games.
