Meow Time: cozy cat room changes
Now that Steam Next Fest has come to an end, Meow Time: cozy cat room is moving into its next stage: preparing for the full release!
First of all, thank you so much to everyone who tried the Demo during Next Fest. We also truly appreciate every player who shared feedback, suggestions, or reported issues with us.
We carefully read through your feedback, and the main points we heard were:
There are not enough interactive elements yet. The background feels a bit too bright and cannot be changed in the Demo. There could be more things to do inside the room.
We hear you!
The Demo only shows part of what the game currently has, but we also realized something important: rather than simply adding more content, what we need to improve most right now is the interaction between the player, the cat, the room, and the tools.
So before the full release, this will be one of our main areas of focus.
During the week of Next Fest, we have already made progress on several related features.
For example, many players mentioned the background. In fact, we already had basic background-changing support before Next Fest, but we wanted to adjust it together with the overall room atmosphere, so we decided not to include it in the Demo just yet.
As for the room feeling too bright or lacking atmosphere, our solution is: a lighting system.
We want the room to be more than just a place where you place furniture. We want it to feel more like a real little home. With ambient lighting and different light sources, the room in the full version will look noticeably different from the current Demo. We hope it will feel warmer, cozier, and more lived-in.
For interaction, we have also added two new tools: Camera and Album!
In the full version, you will be able to capture the moments you want to remember at any time. Whether your cat does something adorable or you have just finished decorating your room, you can take a photo and save it in the in-game album, or save it wherever you like.
We are already looking forward to seeing everyone share their little rooms and cat moments!
Besides that, before the full release, we also plan to add and improve more features, including but not limited to:
Desktop Mode The game will support different ways to use and display it. You can choose the main game view, or use Desktop Wallpaper Mode so that your cat and little room can accompany you in a lighter, more relaxed way.
Tutorial Book We want players to be able to find answers in-game whenever they have questions about the features, systems, or gameplay, without needing to guess what to do.
New UI We will update the UI to make the overall experience clearer, smoother, and more comfortable.
More Cat Animations In the full version, we expect to have at least 90 cat-related animations. We want the cat to feel like it is not just staying in the room, but really living its own little daily life.
Cat Sound Effects We will also add at least 20 different cat sound effects. By the way, these cat sounds are all based on real recordings, with only some light post-processing such as noise reduction.
More Ways to Interact with the Cat Compared with the Demo, the full version will include more ways and situations for you to interact with your cat.
Of course, everything mentioned above is not all we want to do.
There are still many, many things we want to continue adding to Meow Time, and many ideas and expectations from players that we hope to gradually bring into the game. But time is limited, and we want to build these things step by step instead of releasing everything at once before it is properly polished.
We are a two-person team, and we are currently working on this game full-time. After the full release, we will continue updating the game based on player feedback.
Our hope is that Meow Time can eventually become a small room where you can slow down for a moment in your busy life, with a quiet little cat keeping you company.
As for the release date, we cannot give an exact date just yet. Our current release window is this summer.
The reason we cannot confirm a specific date yet is that there are still some details that may change, including 1–2 rounds of closed testing before release, as well as the final development and adjustment of certain features. Our priority is still: quality first. Before release, we want to make sure the game reaches the experience we are aiming for, instead of rushing out something that is not ready yet.
Once again, thank you to everyone who played the Demo during Next Fest, shared feedback, and followed our game.
We will continue working hard to prepare the full version.
Please feel free to keep sharing your suggestions, questions, and expectations with us.
We hope to see you and your cat again very soon in the little room of Meow Time!
