Release notes of this version

Melody Mania v1.7.0 has been released! 🎉 This is a major update with improvements and fixes. This version focuses on the song editor and AI tools.

Reworked AI tools

All AI tools have received an upgrade to make song creation easier than ever before. The new AI models used by default are:

  • UVR for vocals isolation

  • RMVPE for pitch detection

  • NeMo Forced Aligner (NFA) for lyrics alignment

  • Parakeet for speech recognition

High quality vocals isolation via UVR is important because this is the basis for the other AI tools, which yield better results now as well. A minor downside is that UVR takes a bit more time to finish compared to Spleeter.

The pitch detection result of RMVPE is much more fine-grained than before. This is why its visualization in the song editor has been reworked.

Lyrics alignment (aka. forced alignment) is a new feature where given lyrics are positioned onto the selected audio range. This is more reliable and faster than starting from scratch with speech recognition.

You are free to use your own models. For details see the updated song editor documentation.

Song Editor

  • Refined side bar layout

  • Added AI workflow window

  • Refined controls and shortcuts

  • Option to disable auto-scrolling to playback position

  • Set START and END properties via right click context menu

Fixes

  • Disabled AVPro Video by default because it caused crashes on some platforms. VLC has been found to be stable and is used instead for extensive file format support.

  • Fix MIDI import in song editor

  • Set MEDLEYSTART and MEDLEYEND properties via right click context menu to correct value

  • Do not write MEDLEYSTART and MEDLEYEND if it has not been set

Misc

  • Option to reduce audio latency by changing DSP buffer size. You can find this in Setting > Develop > Performance and Effects. And app restart is required after changing this value.

  • Smaller UI by default, new option to scale the UI. Note that the song editor UI is very different and has its own scale factor option. To revert to the previous UI scale, set the new UI scale factor option to 1.28 (i.e. 1024 / 800)

  • Merged UltraStar Play into Melody Mania. This includes #574, #575, #576 .

  • Updated Unity

  • Updated VLC

  • Updated WebView
