Devlog #1 - Ionian

Welcome to the first entry of our new devlog series, where we invite you to the vibrant world of A Last Song. Since it’s the first entry we’ll begin with the first region you encounter in game: the Ionian.

Our creative process for each level begins with a musical mode. Without going into too much detail, you can organize music using 7 different musical modes (Ionian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian). 🎶

For each musical mode, we chose emotions that would represent them to give us a focus for the visuals. And the Ionian theme we found revolves around innocence, and naive happiness. 🌻

Beneath a midday sun, the Ionian showcases flowery clearings and streams flowing between the rocks, inspired by the beautiful mountainous French countryside. 🍃

The surroundings are pastel tones evoking the essence of spring, featuring hues of pink, green and yellow. ✨Pure serotonin✨

With its calming ambiance, vivid colors and lush flora, the Ionian serves as the perfect starting point for your adventure. 🌱

Embark on this journey with us as we unravel the mysteries and wonders of A Last Song. The Ionian region is just the beginning, and we can't wait to share the diverse and captivating regions you will encounter as you play the game.

In the meantime here is a bonus challenge ! It’s a musical blind test in video. Give us your guess of what song it is and we’ll share the correct answer in the next devlog.
