Havenlocked Havenlocked is in the works!

Earlier this month, I released the 1.0 version of Skigill. This means I am ready to fully focus on my next project, Havenlocked!

It's the direct sequel to Master Key, and will feature mostly the same gameplay, but with an even greater focus on exploration and secrets.

I announced Havenlocked more than a year ago, before starting Skigill. Since then, I spent most of my time with it on the level design, with placeholders and blocks. Game development is unpredictable, and I have been building it rather horizontally, so I do not have much to show yet.

But I also practiced pixel art a bit! Check out this sample, I think you'll already be able to spot a difference compared to last year's.

Unique features

The colors are not an update of the art style. In Havenlocked they will be part of the exploration and the gameplay. You will have to explore to conquer the world with colors! The more you explore, the more you will be able to spend time with them.

In addition to the colors, the game will have a dual world system! Some dungeons, rather than being separate from the overworld like in Master Key and classic Zelda games, will be woven into the worlds, and sometimes both at the same time.

All this freedom will be enhanced by a shop that will let you get items (and access dungeons) in different orders, as long as you can pay. Overall, the exploration should be more complex in Havenlocked compared to Master Key, but the combat should be easier.

All of the previous points are design decisions that are set in stone as of today. There is more to say about what the game will be, but I will keep it for later. Sailing and other islands?

Havenlocked is in the works, but it still has a long way to go before you can play it. If you want to help financially with the development, please consider following the Kickstarter page:
