changedIn the 342 Patch Notes, we mentioned a change one of the devs worked out to do with blockages in how some particle effects were being loaded and that we’d hoped that change would see decent performance improvements. Unfortunately, after testing, it doesn’t appear to have the impact we’d hoped due to there being an additional, even deeper level to the issue than had originally been found. That said, the change is still in 343. It may make some difference depending on your device and connectivity, but is otherwise just groundwork for further improvements.

Unity Engine Upgrade

We have upgraded the Unity Engine to the latest Long-Term Supported (LTS) version, 6.3. This was a needed upgrade for a number of reasons including the previous version being less stable, but is also required to handle recent changes to iOS. Due to the updated Unity version, minimum OS for Android and iOS will be:

  • Android version 7.1 “Nougat”

  • iOS15

Assets will also need to be redownloaded. We also took this opportunity to review and unify the texture settings for the game for a more consistent quality experience across the board. This results in some file size changes:

  • Android will increase in size slightly

  • iOS will reduce in size slightly

  • Steam should see an overall increase in image quality

Quality of Life

Performance

  • Changes to memory clean up on low memory warnings

Miscellaneous

  • Increased network connectivity ping interval to 30 seconds

  • On mobile, each Chapter Map will stay where it was last scrolled to, between visiting screens and between sessions (pre-Unity behaviour)

  • Only first visits to chapter maps in Campaign and Story mode will attempt to auto-scroll to a playable mission

  • Note: Older accounts that have not visited a map since before the Unity release (June-July 2025) may still experience Chapter Maps opening centred the first time they open the map

  • The Champion Awards screen for Championed Heroes opens up at the next unlockable reward

Bug Fixes

Gameplay & Heroes

  • Fixed issues with elements of Heroic mode activating in PVP

UI

  • Alliance chat messages and whole threads should stop randomly disappearing (or at least players won’t have to spam 50 messages to clear a “corrupted” message anywhere near as often)

  • Pluses sometimes appearing instead of spaces in the Alliance chat should no longer occur

  • Links in Message of the Day pop-ups (e.g. the Fan Favourites vote) redirect to their associated website now

  • If you perform actions in the Character Info screen (e.g. applying covers), and navigate back to the Roster screen, it will not reset back to the top of the character list if that character is still visible in the filter

  • However, actions that are no longer applicable with the current filter will still cause a reset back to the top – e.g. if you un-favorite a character, then go back to the Roster screen with a filter enabled to only show favorited characters, there is no visible character to return to

  • Completing battles in Story mode won’t show “Season Points: XXX” text from Versus mode in the follow-up screen anymore

  • If an Offer popup appears above the VIP popup on the main menu screen, closing the Offer should allow interacting with the VIP popup behind it, not closing both and causing everything to not be interactable

  • Text shadow lines up with text in all cases for character names / subnames in the Roster screen (Deadpool (Spirit Of Vengeance)’s shadow text previously took up an extra line of text, for example)
