A harder, more puzzle-like game mode
All enemies move while the player aims their sword strikes
HP is limited to 3
Player starts game with 0 coins
Levels start with 0 chaos
Boldy has a special S-Rank challenge
Beating Boldy's challenge grants you the new Ward Charm, an ancient Montressor treasure
CHALLENGE mode is recommended for a second playthrough. It's much more difficult and methodical, requiring more forethought and route planning. But the Ward Charm is maybe the coolest item in the game, so it's worth it.
Other improvements:
Graphics improvements, like the new Frog and Lilypad animations!
ENTER / START now skip dialogue, making menus / dialogue trees easier to "back out" of, especially while using the Phone
Bugs fixed:
Curses now clear when Maple passes out
Sword-drawn state now clears before returning to the Visitor Center
Fixed issue where enemies and keys could pass through Sage Grounds gates
Boss music no longer plays when muted
Fixed a potential crash issue with fire-spawning during boss fight
Mini-tutorial on Forbidden Trades can now be skipped
