You’ll be tasked with guiding your scoop in different patterns based on different fruits and possibly recipes, order size, tools and other factors.

With me in the studio for the first is my cohost and best friend, the man with dozens of brothers, Berry!

Hello everyone.

We’ve had a productive and cozy winter and have a bunch of updates for you. We even went to a wedding!

That was the devs Mango. Let’s just read the notes they left for us:

“We’re working on more mechanics and going deeper than we originally thought was realistic. A perfect example we want to talk about: minigames!”

Minigame: Sorbet Scooping

  • We’re implementing a new minigame: sorbet scooping! We wanted to add more depth while keeping in mind the simple, cozy vibes of MBSS. You’ll be tasked with guiding your scoop in different patterns based on different fruits and possibly recipes, order size, tools and other factors.

  • There’ll also be a quality or scoring system of some kind based on your scooping performance.

  • We’re excited to see how this minigame feels in-game, which takes us to the next point: alpha testing.

Alpha Testing

  • We’re finishing up a playable vertical slice for us to internally test. This will be incredibly helpful to see if we’re going in the right direction, which mechanics to expand on, which to cut, and figure out what’s missing.

  • We especially want a strong, core shopkeeping loop since that’s the heart of the game. Everything else is built around it. We’re working on how players make and serve sorbet, customer interactions and shop customization.

Upcoming Changes & Improvements

  • We’re designing different ways to obtain supplies for your shop and a new quest system. There’ll be different ways to approach shop management and different roles each player can fill.

  • We’re also polishing current assets and animations on top of adding more music, playable environments and characters.

  • Life’s been a bit chaotic since our last update, but we’re really excited to show off way more of what we’ve been working on once it’s more presentable. We think players will really like it!

Wow. I hope that means we get new customers!
