Greetings Commanders!
It’s been a while since the last update, but the development of Main Sequence has been moving along at a steady pace behind the scenes. There were a lot of exciting milestones for Main Sequence in 2025 which I’ll highlight in this post, as well as give you an idea as to what to expect from Main Sequence in 2026.
Public Playtest
The biggest milestone of 2025 was the release of the public playtest back in August. The interest in the playtest far exceeded my expectations, and it has been great to see so many people enjoying the game even in this early stage. A big thanks especially to all of the creators and streamers who covered the playtest. Not only does it help share the game with new audiences, it is super helpful as a developer to see the live playthroughs and reactions of people checking out the game for the first time.
The playtest highlighted some key issues as well that I have been focusing on fixing as I work on the upcoming demo. As a solo developer, testing out the wide range of configurations and setups people have is a very intensive process, but based on the feedback from playtesters many of these important features have been implemented or are in the works. The playtest has also shown some of the mechanics and types of gameplay that people have enjoyed the most, and I’ve been working hard to add more depth to the core automation, building, and combat systems of the game as well as continuing to add content and progression paths.
Those playtesters following the experimental branch have been a great help in testing the latest content and features for the game, and right now I’m working on a big update for the playtest that will bring these changes to the main branch, along with even more performance and quality-of-life improvements.
Thank you to everyone who has checked out the playtest! I look forward to reading and integrating lots more of your feedback in 2026.
Demo
In the last post which I made right at the start of the playtest, I said that a demo was in the works for September of 2025. However, the playtest gave me so much great feedback that I’ve been busy implementing new features and quality-of-life improvements ever since.
The demo is still the next goal that I’m working towards, and it’s shaping up to be much more polished and focused than if it had come out according to the original schedule. You can expect some big news for it in the coming months, so make sure to wishlist and follow the game to stay in the loop.
Discord Community
On that note, I also want to highlight the incredible community that has grown around the game. In addition to helping find bugs and leaving reviews, lots of people have come together on the Main Sequence Discord just to chat about their playthroughs, and share builds and ideas. Seeing the incredible things players build in the game continues to motivate me to make Main Sequence the best it can be, and hearing stories of some epic crashes is also motivating in a different way.
If you have a cool build you want to share, or just want to stop by and say hi, make sure to check out the Discord here: https://discord.com/invite/uy8w2pTcQE
And in the meantime, check out these awesome screenshots shared by members of the Discord:

Future Plans
There is lots in the works for Main Sequence that’s not ready to share just yet, so you can expect more posts in the coming months about the demo and roadmap to the Early Access release. Until then, the public playtest remains open if you are interested in checking out the current Alpha build.
Thanks for continuing to follow the development of Main Sequence, and I look forward to sharing even more development updates with you in 2026!
Cheers,
Kaiden
