Lunar Mystery 2103 changes
Hi everyone,
I'm happy to announce that engine version 1.1.0 of the Steam version of Lunar Mystery 2103 has now been released!
What's Included?
This update adds partial controller support for main brand controllers. In the "Emulator Menu" (which can be accessed via Escape on the keyboard, or pressing L3 + R3 down on a controller), you will now see a "Controller Setup" option.
This menu option will allow you to customise your controller/keyboard bindings to your liking. Both will be active at once, allowing you to quickly swap between should you desire.
To avoid accidents, if you press into the "Keyboard Setup" option with a controller, you'll notice nothing takes input. This is simple a safety mechanism to stop the keyboard bindings getting muddled. Simply refresh the "Emulator Menu" again to navigate to the desired location.
Button Setup / Representation
The buttons themselves are initially setup as Nintendo-style buttons (so A and B are reversed), however the visual representation is currently setup to represent the buttons of an Xbox controller, so if you're using a PlayStation controller, pressing X will label the button "A", and pressing O will label it as "B", etc. This may change in later updates if I split them up into unique mappings!
Additional
Controller analogue sticks are always active and are always bound to up, down, left, right.
You can (at present) assign multiple keybinds to the same button. It doesn't do anything other than allowing you to press multiple buttons at once.
This update has only been tested on Xbox One and Sony DualShock 4 controllers (I don't own anything else) so currently doesn't come with full support for others, though they will likely work. If there's any odd behaviour with other controllers, feel free to reach out!
You will also notice in the bottom-left of the game, there is now a small box with an engine and game version number. For the Steam release, I've chosen to split updates into "engine" and "game" updates, because the game itself has been released on physical cartridges as per the Kickstarter campaign, so there is "another layer", if you will, running on top of the actual game content, which I've dubbed the "engine". This means that the game is completely unchanged, but the backend "engine" functions have been updated for this release.
Once again, thanks for all your support/feedback/comments/reviews/etc. I really appreciate all of it!
