Ludus Magnatus: Gladiator Manager Simulator changes
Salvēte Lanistas!
You asked for it - so I delivered!
I’m incredibly excited to announce that Ludus Magnatus now features a brand-new Ludus Designer, allowing you to finally create the Ludus of your dreams with the name, colours, banner, and overall look exactly how you want it.
This update is fully compatible with your existing saves, but with the amount of new content, balancing changes, and improvements included, I highly recommend starting a new playthrough to experience everything from the beginning.
New Features & Major Changes
Added the Ludus Designer, allowing you to create and customize your own Ludus designs using a fully featured built-in editor. You can also upload your own 512x512 PNG image.
Added a new Ludus Upgrade: the Antiquarian. Market progression is now tied to the Antiquarian, with each upgrade unlocking access to higher equipment tiers.
Reworked Market progression. Higher-tier equipment must now be unlocked through the Antiquarian, and a new Market Focus dropdown lets you prioritize which unlocked tier you want to appear more frequently.
Added Fixed and Balanced starting Gladiator options.
Fixed: The existing system, where some Ludi begin with stronger Gladiators than others.
Balanced: All starting Gladiators are pooled together and distributed evenly between Ludi based on their overall strength, creating a much more balanced starting point.
Added the ability to buy and sell multiple items at once.
Added inventory paging to the Market stash when the player owns more than 24 unique items.
Added a new Doctore tooltip when hovering over Retire as Doctore, showing which traits the Gladiator could potentially teach.
Gameplay & Balance
Increased the Scout's Female recruitment focus from 25% to 50%.
Reduced the maximum Vitality cap from 95 to 90, as late-game Gladiators were surviving too frequently.
Reduced Dirty Fighter damage over time from 25% to 15% of damage dealt.
Dirty Fighter damage over time will now stop immediately once the opposing team has been defeated, preventing Gladiators from dying after a match has already concluded.
Buffed Spears and Two-Handed Axes by increasing their damage bonus by an additional 10 percentage points and removing their previous Dodge/Block penalties.
Legends and Demigods can now wear helmets.
Gladiators with the Special Character trait are now prevented from wearing helmets instead.
Injuries are now automatically removed when a new season begins.
Damage Done and Damage Taken from Training Matches, Exhibition Matches, and Champions Cup matches are no longer included in League statistics.
AI Improvements
Made significant improvements to AI behaviour on Hard and Very Hard difficulties.
AI clubs will now make smarter decisions when developing Gladiators, including placing greater focus on appropriate stats and equipment.
Changed that AI controlled clubs now play by the same rules as the player in regards to market stock and needing Antiquarian upgrades to progress to the next tier.
UI & Quality of Life
Trait tooltip backgrounds in the Roster view now automatically expand when enough traits require a second row.
Trait backgrounds in the Gladiator Detail view now dynamically expand when the trait list would otherwise extend beyond the panel.
The Training view now also expands automatically when a Doctore has more than nine teachable traits.
Added additional resolution options when playing in Windowed Mode.
Made various smaller UI and text adjustments throughout the game.
Further improved the localization system to reduce instances of translated text briefly flickering back to English.
Multiplayer
Improved Multiplayer reconnection functionality for a more reliable experience when players temporarily lose connection.
Made additional improvements to multiplayer-related systems and stability.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where changing the hair colour of male Gladiators could also unexpectedly change their hairstyle.
Fixed a rare issue in the Pregame Selection screen where the confirmation window could open when selecting Gladiators or interacting with tactics.
Fixed a graphical issue that could cause a black line to appear on the Ludus banner in the Main Menu.
Made additional improvements and fixes to the Champions Cup.
Added a save repair system for existing campaigns where the Champions Cup had stopped progressing correctly.
Localization
Improved translations for German, French, Russian, and Ukrainian.
Made various additional localization and text-layout improvements across the UI.
Patch 0.94.1
Fixed an issue that would prevent the Market stash from displaying correctly.
Added support for different resolutions and aspect ratios in the Ludus Designer scene.
Fixed AI match results not being included in the League panel’s season statistics.
Fixed Gladiators at the 90 VIT cap not receiving the correct stat colour in the Roster panel.
Reverted the previous change that stopped damage-over-time effects when the opposing team was defeated. These effects will now continue ticking after the match, which feels more natural.
Improved performance in the Ludus Selection scene by removing a number of unnecessary calls.
Patch 0.94.1A
Fixed an issue where the Teal background colour option was incorrectly configured in the Ludus Designer.
Improved the custom image upload functionality to make importing your own images more reliable.
Added error messages for failed image uploads, making it easier to identify when and why an upload could not be completed.
Patch 0.94.1B & C
Further improved networking optimization to better support imported custom Ludus logos.
Fixed an issue where expanding trait tooltip backgrounds were not aligned correctly for Gladiators with a large number of traits.
Fixed a critical issue where several scenes were still using Unity’s old Input System instead of the new one.
Patch 0.94.1D & E
Fixed an issue that could cause Champions Cup winners to be duplicated in the Hall of Fame.
Fixed a bug in Multiplayer where clubs could sometimes be displayed by their internal ID instead of their club name.
Further improved the synchronization of custom uploaded Ludus banners in Multiplayer games.
Fixed a Multiplayer edge case where a client’s recent inventory and Ludus changes were not always correctly saved by the host.
At this point, I believe all currently reported bugs have been addressed with this update. However, if you do manage to find something that slipped through, please don’t hesitate to report it in the forum here: Bug Reporting
I really hope you enjoy this update, and I can’t wait to see all the awesome custom Ludi and banners you come up with!
I also added a small Screenshot Mode to the Ludus Designer, which hides the interface so you can get a clean view of your creation. Simply press ESC to bring the UI back.
All the best! Mathias
