Repeated intro
Greetings Awoken. Following testing in our Open Dev community, we are pleased to announce that our latest Lost Skies update is currently rolling out to all players.
What changed
- Gameplay
- Store
- Fixes
- Performance
- UI and audio
Thank you to everyone who jumped into testing and provided feedback. We’ve made several adjustments based on your time and efforts alongside a handful of brand-new additions.
Please restart Steam to ensure you download the latest update. Below is a detailed breakdown of the changes:
Exploration & Environment
Island Loading Improvements: We have optimized how islands load into memory. You should notice faster load times and a less pronounced stall when entering or leaving an island’s air space.
- Environmental HazardsWatch your step! Barbed wire has been updated and will now slow your progress as you move through it.
Ship Wrecks on Compass: If your ship is destroyed, the wreck will now appear properly on your compass regardless of distance, provided you were registered to the ship at the time of its destruction.
Ship & Resource Management
Ship Part Scanning: You can now use the Gall Disc to scan ship parts. This provides a full readout of stats, level, and the materials used in construction.
- Loot Chest OverhaulWe have addressed the "loot vomit" issue. Chests now behave like ship storage containers, holding their contents securely until the island loot respawns, at which point any remaining items inside are cleared.
- Inventory LogicWe've improved "Quick Move" functionality and updated "Inventory Full" notifications for a smoother UI experience. Additionally, inventory items placed on your toolbar will no longer be moved when using "Move All" or "Refill Stacks."
Ore Color Tinting: To help you identify resources at a distance, metal deposits now feature color tinting that matches their actual ore type, moving away from the uniform orange tint used previously.
- Repair DronesRepair Drones have been fixed and are now repairing as intended.
Gameplay, Combat & Progression
- Skill System RevampYou will find additional skills to level up, complete with new tooltips describing their benefits. [WIP]
Drift Rewards: Combat is now more rewarding, as killing enemies will award Drift. Furthermore, Drift acquisition now triggers when adding compendium entries, opening chests for the first time, and defeating bosses.
Databank Drift Scaling: Databank drift now scales with the island level. While earlier islands will award slightly less, it will be much more generous as you progress into the mid-to-late game.
Weapon Ammo Persistence: Weapons now properly persist their ammo You will see the ammo count on dropped weapons and the weapon tooltip will display both the ammo count and type. Important note on reloading: When you reload a full magazine is now deducted from your inventory at once (instead of shot-by-shot). Since you can't currently unload weapons when ammo type is shared, reloading fully consumes that ammo.
Priority Interaction: The interaction system has been refined. The object you are directly looking at will now reliably appear at the top of the interaction list.
Systems, Stability & Audio
Unity Version Update: We have upgraded the underlying Unity engine version. While this is mostly behind-the-scenes, it is a highly meaningful update for the long-term stability and future development of the game.
Ship Physics: Implemented a fix for a multiplayer-specific issue that caused ship-bucking physics.
Audio Fix: The Cutter "ringing" SFX no longer stacks at the scene origin.
General Maintenance: A number of other smaller miscellaneous fixes and backend improvements.
As always, thank you for your continued support & feedback. You can find a dedicated issues thread for this build HERE on Discord.
